Camp's a wrap! π
Proud doesn't cut it!
Six different groups, eight weeks of showing up,
good discussions, hard discussions.
Developing our strength, our vocabulary, and our capacity as humans and as athletes.
Every single one of them left stronger than they walked in.
There's a lot of noise right now about who kids are supposed to be.
Camp doesn't answer that, in my eyes it does something better:
It hands them a body they're building on purpose, and lets them find out what it can do and what they must do for it.
That's not a performance for anyone else.
That's just theirs.
The weight on their back, the struggle & discomfort they overcome, the strength they carry as not only a capacity but a part of their identity and perspective.
Our goal is to build an environment of passion and perspective β because that's what real performance grows out of.
Who you are shows up in how you act, and it has consequences:
Show up hungry, you feel weak.
Show up thirsty, you feel slow.
But show up having cared for yourself in those simple ways, and you start to understand something bigger:
You're worth your own effort in the morning.
You're worth the sleep at night.
You're worth naming the emotion, the solution and the acceptance.
You're a valuable member of this team and we take care of ourselves so we can take care of each other.
Real pride, for me, is a kid asking if they can keep coming back. It's trust and mutual respect from an incredible group of people, year after year.
It's parents trusting me with their kids for eight weeks and believing it'll matter.
It's watching that trust become mutual, then become respect, then just become how we operate.
Not the reps. The years.
This is why I do this work β the chance to hand a kid something they'll still be carrying long after they've left this gym.
Just as people did for me when I needed it.
Fall sessions are coming. In-season training starts soon!
And we're always happy to welcome our muskie athletes back into the fold.
Thank you all for making this what it is:
Passion. Perspective. Performance. πͺβ€οΈ
