Life these days is hard. For so many reasons.

So often we feel alone in our struggles because creating community, and feeling supported by community, just takes so much effort. I met with someone today who has grand visions to try to address this problem in Fernie. She wants to hear from YOU!! To hear what your experience is like going through life in Fernie, and what would help you to feel more supported. Book a chat with her, or fill out her survey online at https://thevillagefernie.com

What if movement didn’t have to feel like work?

Many of us were taught that exercise needs to be hard, uncomfortable, or exhausting to count.

But sustainable movement often comes from play.

• Walking with friends
• Exploring a trail
• Playing with your kids
• Throwing a ball
• Riding a bike

The more enjoyable movement becomes, the more likely we are to keep doing it.

What’s your favourite way to play?

If you’d like to explore this idea further, check out the full blog through the link in bio. Play More, Suffer Less.

One of my favourite parts of this work is connecting the dots.

• Between movement and health.
• Between research and real life.
• Between what we think we should be doing and what actually feels doable.

I spend a lot of time learning, listening, observing, and having conversations with people in our community. Every so often, I pull together some of the thoughts, questions, observations, and reminders that have been on my mind and share them in a newsletter.

The next one is heading out in August, and I’d love for you to be part of it.

If you’re interested in finding practical, manageable ways to move more and feel better, you can sign up through the link in bio.

I hope to see you there!

Do you lead a team? Manage staff? Own a business? Have responsibility for the experience and wellbeing of other people throughout the day?

Then this blog is for you.

As leaders, we often focus on productivity, performance, and outcomes. But one of the most overlooked factors in a healthy workplace is movement.

The environments we create influence how people feel, think, connect, and perform.

What if leadership wasn’t just about managing people, but about creating a culture that supports wellbeing?

In my latest blog, I explore what it means to be a movement leader and how small changes can have a lasting impact on the people around us.

Manageable Movement: Hamstrings

Last month, I encouraged you to get down on the floor more often.

This month, I’m making the case for staying off it… at least when it comes to stretching your hamstrings.
I just shared a new Manageable Movement video along with a blog that explores something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately.

The video is live if you want to check it out.

Everyone Plays Fernie is looking for helpers.

As this project starts to grow, I’m looking for people who want to be part of creating more accessible, welcoming movement opportunities for kids in the Elk Valley.

Ways to help:
• Kid volunteers (ages 11+) to come play with younger kids during events
• People interested in brainstorming ideas
• Future board members/community supporters
• Anyone who simply wants to help make movement more inclusive and fun

For older kids, volunteer hours can count toward high school requirements.

For younger helpers… Happy Cow coupons are involved.

If this sounds like something you’d enjoy being part of, reach out: [email protected]

The “why” behind Everyone Plays. If you’d like to come along for the journey, please give a follow

A lot of the conversations I care most about don’t fit neatly into Instagram captions.

Things like:
•How movement fits into real life.
•Burnout and sustainability.
•Pain, recovery, and resilience.
•Why “optimal” isn’t always realistic.
•And how we build healthier relationships with movement long term.

That’s why I write the quarterly newsletter.

It’s where I share deeper thoughts, practical movement ideas, blogs, podcasts, and things I’m learning along the way.

If that sounds like your kind of conversation, you can subscribe through the link in bio.

Everyone Plays Fernie

Movement should belong to everyone.
That’s the idea behind Everyone Plays — a new local non-profit focused on creating accessible, affordable, and non-competitive movement opportunities for kids in the Elk Valley.

Not every child wants high-pressure sports.
Not every family can afford expensive programming.
And not every kid connects with movement in the same way.

Everyone Plays is about bringing back movement for the joy of it: Play. Connection. Confidence. Community. Movement for life.

I’m really excited about this project and the conversations already happening around it.
