🌲 Yucwmenlúcwu and Balcaen Strike Team Update
Wednesday, August 5 – 11:00 a.m.
The Yucwmenlúcwu and Balcaen Strike Team Liaison, Lloyd Ley, connected with BC Wildfire Service yesterday afternoon, Tuesday, August 4, regarding the Bradley Creek Fire. He remains active in the Salmon River area, monitoring conditions and maintaining situational awareness should the fire move north of the established control lines.
Yesterday, Tuesday, August 4, BC Wildfire Service made significant progress along the northern flank of the fire. Planned hand ignitions were carried out to strengthen and secure the existing control lines. Any increased fire activity observed along the northern flank was expected to be the result of these planned ignitions.
Overall, BC Wildfire Service continues to make steady progress in strengthening containment along the northern portion of the fire.

🌲 YUCWMENLÚCWU BALCAEN STRIKE TEAM UPDATE
Bradley Creek Wildfire (K41351)
The following operational update relates to Yucwmenlúcwu's support of BC Wildfire Service in response to the Bradley Creek Wildfire (K41351).
The Yucwmenlúcwu Balcaen Wildfire Strike Team were deployed the morning of Sunday, August 2 in support of BC Wildfire Service operations. Their objective was to support the BC Wildfire Service with local knowledge, technical expertise, and operational resources while ensuring Splatsin leadership and community members receive timely, accurate information about the wildfire and any potential impacts.
Yesterday, the team assisted with fireguard activities in the Irish Creek area and successfully located a section of fire line to support suppression operations. While our heavy equipment was not deployed due to mobilization timing, other heavy equipment arrived later in the day and worked overnight to complete the fireguard.
At this time, no additional line location work is anticipated for the team today, although this could change depending on fire conditions and operational needs. Fire behaviour remained low throughout yesterday and overnight, and the BC Wildfire Service continues to make significant progress on suppression efforts.
Lloyd Ley is serving as the Strike Team Community Liaison and will continue coordinating with the BC Wildfire Service should conditions change.
On behalf of the Splatsin Emergency Operations Centre, we extend our sincere thanks to the Yucwmenlúcwu Balcaen Strike Team for their dedication, professionalism, and hard work during this challenging time. We are grateful for your commitment to protecting our community and supporting wildfire response efforts. Your efforts are deeply appreciated.
