Revisiting this, as we lean into summer and supporting our kids. What do you do, to build trust with your teen?

A hill I'll die on. Adults need to change. Our kids need us back. The end.

A day off. Patio time, and reflection on this next part of my life.

What would you want to say your legacy was, 20 yrs from now?

"How do I keep my teen off their phone?"

My answer? Don't go all or nothing. Help them find other things to do, and also make time for being online.

Something for your mind, your body, and your soul.

That might mean a book, a bike ride, and a Snapchat convo with their besties.

I don't have any pictures of my three girls together, so I commissioned Nate Gagnon to create a multi-media portrait of them.

I asked for whimsical. He nailed it.

1. Go to Instagram and follow Nate

2. Hire Nate

Supporting young artists is where it's at.

Someone commented to me: why do you put so much "just life" stuff on your account? Where's the "parenting and resilience" stuff?

I want you to know I'm just me. Doing me things. And also hopefully, once in a while giving you food for thought to make the world better for kids.

Plus, you're not the boss of me 😉😂

Responsible use means we only publish about ourselves and we care about our impact on others.

A kid could never have social media or a phone, but if their adults are sharing about them online they still have a social media problem.

Change the adults, help the kids.

I decided to break my endless scrolling, phone out, wasting my life away habit. Here are the things I started to do instead.

I decided to learn to draw. I watch a show or listen to a podcast or audio book while I do it. No scrolling.

I go for an evening walk. Unless it's flooding. Or snowing. I take pictures along the way, because Jon Bon Jovi said to do so in their song "Reunion".

I practice yoga. Yin. Nothing fancy but my hips whisper thank you every time. I use the Down Dog: Great Yoga Anywhere. 100% recommend.

I go back to things I used to love. Like swinging a kettlebell. And it reminds me of friends from the past. Laughter. And insanity.

I read. To get back in the habit, I use the Edmonton Public Library app Libby, and get Skip the Line books. Because then I only have 7 days to get it read, and I'm not one to back down from a challenge.

I paint. Who cares if it's a masterpiece. It's relaxing and teaches me patience.

Canadians recognize the danger in this picture.

And there were goslings. Not the Ryan kind. Cobra chicken kind.
