Hey all,
A few years and four awesome events in, I think it is time we (officially) called it quits while we were ahead.
In honesty, well, a lot of us have grown a bit distant from what attracted us to airsoft in the first place; that joy of pew-pew'ing with friends, that little scare when you get jumped and that little giggle you got when you shot your friend in the ass.
The great team here at VIAL; nothing would have happened without these guys, they are the backbone of this organization and some of the best people I know and love. I can't thank you guys enough for indulging this brief little vision of mine.
And the players who came and went and loved the shows we put on; from our humble Northern Arms Airsoft beginnings at Operation: No More Room in Hell through the Island series (Rising, United, Apocalypse) all the way to Operation: First Crisis, as I've said before, the smiles on your faces at the end of the day told the whole story.
Our great prop gear? Well, VFGPA Airsoft took a peek and grabbed it all, so the VIAL gear (including the damn Apocalypse Box which we forgot the code to) will be seen and used and loved by airsofters, which is all we ever really wanted, so thanks to them!
That disconnect I mentioned earlier; well, I think we all just really want to be players again. You know, go out, see friends, just hang out and be relaxed. I think airsoft as a culture has changed and certainly grown on Vancouver Island and we absolutely look forward to being part of it still.
Just, you know, the way we were.

p.s. Seriously, thanks. Play hard, play safe.

While it is not a Vancouver Island Airsoft League event, we are still lending some of our gear for an impromptu night game this coming Saturday/Sunday at Dagger Deep. Check out the post over at Northern Arms Airsoft ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/NorthernArmsAirsoft/permalink/10157094766796980/ ) and leave a post that you would like to be added to the list. Then invite your friends!

I'm still feeling the buzz of excitement from Operation: First Crisis (although that may be my pre-surgery medication kicking in.)
I can't thank everyone enough. My crew; Colin, Nate, Keeghan, Tobin, Steve and Erik. This is all thanks to you guys who made this happen. To Paige who spent her long weekend looking after me, thank you.
And to everyone who came here and believed in us and participated in First Crisis; the smiles on your faces told us the story and made it all worthwhile.
From all of us here at the Vancouver Island Airsoft League;
Thank you for playing and we'll definitely see you again.
Happy pew pew'ing!

To everyone traveling to the event:
The Victoria Day weekend is known to be rather chaotic on the roads and there is always a spike in accidents and road fatalities in the next few days. Please drive safely and take care of yourselves on the way to OP:FC. We won't close the gate on you.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is the weekend.
I admit, I'm fairly nervous. A lot of you are coming from quite a ways away and I want to make sure that you are definitely coming to enjoy your time. Most of all, I want to send you home with good memories, great stories and a desire for more of what we have to offer. However, regardless of us being Islanders and Mainlanders, we are all airsofters and our love of our hobby brings us together to have a great time!
Thank you to everyone who's believed in us and what the Vancouver Island Airsoft League is striving to achieve; a high-quality game accessible to all levels of airsoft players, and in that I believe we have been completely successful. To everyone who came to any of the Island Series (Rising, United, Apocalypse) I thank you for your support.
I also want to take this moment and thank the crew of VIAL. Erik, you make the memories look good and last forever. Keeghan, when reaching out to the people there's no one better. Colin, taking care of us in the OP Control like a boss (get it?). Nate, keeping us honest and well managed in the books. Steve, always there where needed and maintaining our gear. Tobin, taking my strange scenario thoughts and making them real. Without you guys, this organization wouldn't be the awesomeness that it is. Everyone, please take a moment to thank them. They're the real heroes here.
I look forward to meeting some of you tomorrow and the rest on Sunday morning for Operation: First Crisis!
