Ok gang, guess the size of this surfer salmon. I know the weight as we landed it, great fight in these early salmon.
After over 2" of rain or 60+mm, we have a big raise on the Miramichi this morning, probably up 18" but still rising. Gonna' be hard to fish any pools this weekend. I've only ever got one Rocky Brook salmon in May and it was May 28. Dang, too high to try for me. For those who don't have time to choose when they get to the river, remember high water the salmon will follow close to the shoreline. Good luck, should be some nice trout now also.

May 22nd, extremely early for a big salmon like this. Colin Gilks, chief guide, at Miramichi Salmon Club thought he'd go get an early trout, he never expected a salmon like this. 40" long and a girth of 18", has to be over 30 pounds with a girth like that. It's great to see and gives us hope for a the 2022 season. Take care to all fishers out there, tight lines for a great season.
