⚑️πŸ₯Œ WE ROCKED THE ICE… AND THE PARADE! 🀘🎸

We had an absolute blast bringing β€œWe Rock the Ice!” to this year's Fall Fair Parade! Last Friday was a Blast!

What started as a few ideas somehow turned into a giant curling rock, a rock concert on a trailer, a whole lot of cardboard, paint, fringe, balloons, late nights and an incredible amount of teamwork.

A HUGE thank you to our amazing volunteers, staff and Board members who spent the week cutting, painting, building, decorating and putting all the pieces together, then came out to ride, walk and rock with us on parade day. We couldn't have pulled this off without you!

A very special thank you needs to go to Cheri Hankins, the brains behind so much of this. ❀️ From the ideas and planning, to a full week of prep before our volunteers even arrived, to late-night construction of a GIANT curling rock (because apparently a normal-sized curling rock just wouldn't do πŸ˜‚), Cheri was constantly figuring out how to turn another crazy idea into something we could actually build. This float had her fingerprints all over it. ❀️

Thank you to Velvet for jumping into the arts and crafts, cleanup, teardown and final cleanup, and to Dan Wilson & Mountainview Safety Services once again for providing the truck and trailer that gave us the perfect base for this year's creation.

And a big shout-out to the Rotary Club of Dawson Creek for all the work that goes into putting on the Fall Fair Parade!

Most of all, thank you Dawson Creek for the cheers, waves and smiles along the parade route. We hope you had as much fun watching it as we did building it!

We want to take a moment to recognize and thank Rick Jarrett for his years of dedication to the Dawson Creek Curling Club.

Rick joined the Club in 2017 as an Ice Technician and stepped into the Head Ice Technician role in 2024. Over the years, he played an important role in maintaining the ice conditions our members rely on and supporting leagues, bonspiels, and events throughout the season.

Ice making is often behind the scenes, but it has a major impact on the experience of everyone who steps on the ice. Rick’s work helped make that possible, and we are grateful for the time and effort he brought to the Club.

While Rick is stepping away from the Head Ice Technician role, we’re happy to share that he will still be available to assist with installs, removals, and major events as needed.

Please join us in thanking Rick for his contributions to the Dawson Creek Curling Club and wishing him all the best πŸ‘
