Until Next Summer, Abenaki. đź’š

It’s a bittersweet farewell.
Because summers at Abenaki are about so much more than swimming, paddling, basketball, canteen treats and long days at the lake.

They’re about belonging.
You only have to look back through our posts to see it. The little moments, the big moments, the laughter, the friendships, the growth, the chaos, the celebrations, the rainy days and the beautiful ones.

Was it perfect? Probably not. But it was perfect for us.

To our staff, THANK YOU.
You gave this summer everything you had. You showed up, you taught, you coached, you cleaned, you lifeguarded, you served food, you refereed games, you listened to kids, you solved problems and you made this place run.
But more importantly, you made an impact.

To our families, THANK YOU for showing up.
For volunteering. For cheering. For bringing the snacks. For helping when something needed doing. For sitting on the dock, watching from the sidelines and becoming part of the wonderfully imperfect community that makes Abenaki what it is.

And to our kids and athletes, You made us proud.
We hope when you think about this summer, you remember the things that really matter.
Running barefoot across the grass.
Cannonballs into the deep end.
Sand between your toes.
Endless games of basketball.
Rainy-day movies.
Treats from the canteen.
Laughing until your stomach hurts.
Finding your people.
Trying something new.
Getting a little stronger.
And, of course, time on the water.

We hope you found joy here. We hope you felt like you belonged.
We hope you made a friend you’ll still know years from now.

And we hope that somewhere down the road, when you smell sunscreen or hear the splash of someone jumping into a lake, you’ll remember your summers at Abenaki.
Because that's the magic of this place.

The summer ends. The gates close. The boats come off the water.
But the memories? Those stay.

So, Abenaki family… thank you for another beautiful summer.
Until we meet again next summer on Bell Lake.
One Club. One Lake. One Family.

ONE TEAM. ONE NATIONAL STAGE.

While our women’s crew celebrated success at Nationals 2026, we want to put the spotlight on the 7young Abenaki male athletes who earned their spots on the national stage and represented our club with incredible pride.

They showed up as high-performance athletes and had great results in their heats but more importantly, they showed up as teammates.

They cheered. They celebrated. They lifted each other up. They represented Abenaki with heart.

The podium may not have been theirs this time, but make no mistake, their time is coming.

They’re locked in for 2027.
Our story is just getting started.

There’s something incredibly powerful about seeing your coach racing right alongside you.

It means more than just having someone at the finish line cheering you on. It means they’re willing to step into the challenge with you, to feel the nerves, the fatigue, the doubt, and the determination that comes with racing.

When an athlete looks over and sees their coach pushing through the same course, it sends a simple but powerful message: I’m in this with you.

A coach who races alongside their athletes doesn’t just teach commitment, resilience, and perseverance, they demonstrate it.

And for athletes, that example can be the extra bit of belief they need when the race gets tough.

Because sometimes the greatest coaching lesson isn’t spoken.

Sometimes, it’s simply seeing your coach beside you, still moving forward.

PROUD TO BE ABENAKI. PROUD TO BE HEADING TO NATIONALS.

There’s something pretty special about seeing 23 Abenaki athletes pack their bags and head to Ottawa to represent our club at Nationals.
For the first time in a decade, Abenaki is sending a team to the national stage.
But this moment is about so much more than racing.

It’s about the early mornings, the hard practices, the missed plans, the tired muscles, the teammates who pushed each other, and the coaches who believed in these athletes every step of the way.
It’s about showing up for each other.
And it’s about carrying the Abenaki name with pride.

When our athletes hit that start line, they won’t be racing alone. They’ll be carrying the cheers of an entire club, the support of their families, the work of their coaches, and the spirit of everyone who has helped get them there.

23 athletes. One team. One club. One very proud Abenaki family.

Go race your hearts out. Cheer for each other. Soak it all in. Make memories you’ll carry for a lifetime. We are so incredibly proud of you.

Now go show all the clubs across Canada what Abenaki looks like. đź’šđź’›
