The Creston Jets put together a strong and spirited showing at a weekend tournament in Grand Forks, finishing with two wins and one loss and adding a Skills Competition victory to their accomplishments.
The Jets opened the tournament with a hard-fought 4–2 loss to the Kaslo Cougars. Jennica scored both goals for Creston in a closely contested matchup that showcased determination and steady pressure from both sides.
Creston bounced back in Game 2 with an exciting 7–4 win over Betty’s B. After the game was tied 4–4, the Jets surged ahead with three unanswered goals to secure the victory. Trinity, playing as a guest player for the weekend, and Jennica each recorded hat tricks, while Catherine W. added a key goal to round out the scoring.
Between the second and third games, the Jets also claimed first place in the B-Level Skills Competition. Four players represented Creston in events including fastest skater, silky-est hands, target shooting, furthest penguin dive, and wagon races, earning the team top honours in a fun and competitive mid-tournament challenge. Congratulations Kienne, Delight, Laura, and Jennica!
The Jets closed out the weekend with a 4–2 win over Kootenay Thunder. Goals were scored by Kylei, Jennica, and Trinity, with Laura sealing the win with an empty-net goal in the final minutes. Kylei’s goal marked her first as a member of the Creston Jets.
In goal, Catherine B had a standout tournament for the Jets, making several key saves throughout the weekend to keep Creston competitive in every game.
Off the ice, some players took part in Saturday evening music and gathering festivities, helping to conclude the weekend on a positive and memorable note.
The tournament highlighted the Jets’ resilience, teamwork, and growing confidence, with practice and teamwork clearly paying off as the season continues. The team also extends a thank you to Betty’s for hosting a fun and well-run weekend.
