Roots & Rest is a gentle Monday-morning gathering to help you move, breathe, settle, and connect. We’ll begin with accessible movement, explore simple beginner-friendly breathwork, and finish with a guided meditation to support a calm, grounded start to your week.
This is a community-centred space—come as you are, take what you need, and stay afterward for refreshments and connection. Snacks are provided, and you’re warmly welcome to bring a small snack to share if you feel inclined.
No previous breathwork or meditation experience is needed. Please bring anything that helps you feel cozy and supported to set up your space on the WRJJ mat.

West River JJ rolled into Halifax for the inaugural Valour Series Jiu Jitsu tournament and showed everyone exactly what this little crew is made of.
Strong performances in every match, with heart and growth showing in both wins and losses. There’s something you can feel with this team that comes from more than just reps on the mats. The community spirit, support, and courage to step in front of someone who wants it just as badly is off the charts. So darn proud of each of you, and of this team as a whole.

Emerie earned her gray belt tonight, and this one feels extra special 🩶🩶🩶
She has been with us since the very beginning, and we’ve had the privilege of watching her grow through every challenge, every tough class, and every moment where she chose not to give up. Emerie’s journey is a true reflection of perseverance. She has learned to face obstacles head-on, trust the process, and believe in herself even when things felt hard.
What makes this achievement so meaningful is not just her skill on the mats, but the personal growth behind it. Emerie leads by example, shows up for her team, and reminds all of us that when you stay committed and allow yourself to be supported, anything is possible.
We are so proud of you, Emerie 🩶
