This is the power of the breast cancer paddling community.

Breast cancer survivors from Busting Out Ottawa, Chestmates Kingston and West Island Dragons came together at Cornwall Waterfest Dragon Boat Race, forming one big circle - different teams and different communities, connected by an experience none of us chose, and a sport that brought us together.

There’s something pretty special about looking around a circle like this and seeing so many women who have faced breast cancer and are now here paddling, racing, laughing, supporting one another and living fully.

We may wear different colours when we take to the water, but moments like this remind us that we are all part of one very special community.

Together we are stronger. Together we keep moving forward.

Big thank you to the River Institute for testing water samples in the Canal. Paddlers can rest assured the water is considered "safe for swimming".

Volunteers will be hard at work today getting the site ready to welcome teams, vendors and spectators tomorrow morning!
