Sometimes accidents happen and one of our leased lesson horses recently suffered an unfortunate foot injury. ❤️
We are so proud of her leaser for stepping up and taking such great care of her horse. Thanks to the horsemanship skills she’s learned at Wild West Ranch Alberta, she was able to assess the situation and do an excellent wrap job on her horse’s foot!
At Wild West Ranch Alberta, we believe learning horse care is just as important as learning to ride. Watching our students put those skills into practice makes us incredibly proud.
Wishing this red mare a speedy recovery! ❤️
We’re a one coloured horse kinda barn lately ☺️ We’ll try harder to bring in more vareity 😉

RHR SLICK FROST aka Bam 💥
2020 AQHA papered 🚹 15,2hh
If you’re looking for nice, big , thick and solid mount as ;
- A ranching partner
- Team roping prospect
- a solid “family friendly” friend
- Solid trail mount
- Or even all around type teammate
Than don’t miss out and come have a look at Bam Bam 💙
Bam has a smooth and fun stride to ride. Solid walk/trot/lope , he has a nice stop, back up , turn on the haunches and forehand, leg yield & side passes. He is not a dead soul. I would say he is more woah then go, but still has the energy and heart to work. He has solid feet. He was barefoot and I got a set of front shoes on him since I was going to haul him, ride on gravel and rocky terrain. He can be ridden in and out of the arena, and he can sit as long as you need, just get on and go, he will be the same.
He was previously used for ranching, roping and has been worked on the flag.
Since hes been in consignment with us ;
- We took him to work on the flag
We didnt know but he did worked the flag and cows with the prior owner, which explained why he was really good !
- we tracked and roped the dummy
Same, we didnt know at that time, but he was used for team roping and has previously roped the dummy and live stock
- took him to a couple gymkhana for fun
He did barrels, poles and flag race, all at a slow pace but acted like hes been there and done that
- took him out in the mountains
I packed a very green/beginner rider on him 2x in the mountains and he was just perfect
- took him swimming
He absolutely LOVES the water
- hauled him to a rodeo for exposure
Again, acted like an old been there done that type of horse
Rarely, but he can get unsure/a little looky about things but there is nothing mean or dangerous about it. He just needs someone that will take a minute to show him.
There is nothing mean in this guy, no buck, bolt or rear.
He has had all age and level of riders on him . I do think a confident/strong beginner at the minimum would be best for him.
He has an old injury on his right front hoof that doesn’t affect him in any ways.
Bam is easy to load, haul, catch and stand tie everywhere. He is UTD farrier, vax & dewormer. He is sound and never required any maintenance.
He is for sale at no fault of his own. His Owner bought him a year ago to get into riding , and he unfortunately simply doesn’t have the time for it.
Located 10min north of Cochrane
Vet check welcome at buyers expense
I do not have current videos , I will do my best to get some by early next week . He is available for viewing and trials.

Happy Horse 🐎 Happy Life
Did you know, horses have excellent night vision? 🌙 👀
Their vision in the dark is estimated to be 50% better than what humans can see! This phenomenon can be accounted for by a few different factors, including the ratio of rods and cones and a specialized tissue called the tapetum.
There are two types of light-sensing cells that lines the retina, called rods and cones. Cones are responsible for colour vision in well lit environments. While rods are responsible for vision in low lit environments. Humans have a 9:1 ratio of rods to cones, whereas horses have a rods to cones ratio of 20:1.
Another factor that increases horses night vision is a shiny tissue at the back of the eye, called the tapetum. The tapetum gives the horses eyes a glowing effect at night if light is shined on them. When light enters the eye, it hits the retina then is reflected onto the tapetum, then back onto the retina to increase night vision!
Due to the fact that horses eyes are not well adept to transitioning between bright and dark environments, they can be sometimes reluctant to enter unfamiliar dark barns, trailers or stalls. It can take up to 30 mins for their eyes to fully adjust!
Pretty Interesting!! 🌕
