Chester Volunteer Fire Department

We are so thrilled to have our new to us Fire Rescue Boat in the water tied to its new home ! Well we are not in service just yet you will see unit 571 out on the water over the next few week as members of the CVFD train on this new piece of important equipment. This took a lot of behind the scene work by members , administrative staff , community members, community partners, local businesses. We can’t thank you all enough for helping the CVFD get to this point !

Deputy Chief Nick Hirtle was proud to take his daughter to her grade eight prom in true fire fighter fashion . Congratulations to all the grade 8 graduates!

Our “pumper number 2” 1951 on its way to support our brothers and sisters @ Kentville Fire as we lay our brother Joel Neily to rest tomorrow. Our condolences to Joel’s family and his fire family.

During the mid 1930’s a small group of citizens seen the growing concerns for some sort of fire protection to cover the community of Chester , the Hawbolts Foundry was expanding ,people were moving to the area ,summer homes were getting larger . On this day May 1st 1936 a group of citizens signed the registry as charter members of the Chester Volunteer Fire Department, since the early years the fire department has changed to try and keep a breast of the ever growing needs of the community,and we are still moving forward with a membership that keep training and practicing to maintain the requirements that are presented to us , so on this May 1st some 90 years after the original membership put a plan in place to protect and serve the community of Chester we would like to thank all the officers and members that served before us to lay a foundation for us to work from as we keep moving forward with their dreams of looking after our fellow citizens ,90 years later we are a proud group to be part of the CHESTER VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT!
