Islanders Youth Basketball

Our Islander boys took a break from basketball this weekend and took over a whole new sport: Dragon Boat Racing! 🐉🚣‍♂️

Representing the Philippine Cultural Society of PEI, the boys jumped out of their comfort zone, onto the boat and just had to prove that no matter the sport, they’re always here to CONQUER!

Their hard work and teamwork paid off as they paddled their way to 3rd Place at this year’s Charlottetown Dragon Boat Festival! 🥉🏆

From the court to the boat, these boys know how to bring the energy!

​The stage is set, the brackets are locked, and the rosters are officially set! Get ready to cheer on our local athletes as 8 teams clash across two divisions for tournament glory.

​BEGINNERS DIVISION
​Building fundamentals, speed, and teamwork on the main court.
​INTERMEDIATE DIVISION
​High-energy transitions, sharp shooting, and intense competition.

​📅 Tournament Date: SEPT 6, 12, 19 OCT 3 and 10
📍 Location: UPEI Gym C

​Yesterday, a group of kids came together for one last basketball game to say farewell to Kaizer, who will be moving away from the island.

​This team represents the true spirit of Islanders Youth Basketball. Coming from all across PEI—Cornwall, Charlottetown, O'Leary, and Tignish—and bringing together diverse cultures and backgrounds, these players proved that basketball connects us all.

​Different hometowns, different backgrounds, one family.

🏀 What a fun weekend here at Islanders Youth Basketball! 💙

Today’s training was filled with new learnings, exciting drills, and a fun ball run that gave our players the chance to showcase their in-game skills, competitiveness, and teamwork.

Beyond basketball, the weekend was also a celebration of the friendships built along the way. A Thanksgiving and farewell gathering brought everyone together as we bid goodbye to the Binag brothers, Carlo and Charles, who are beginning a new journey outside PEI.

A weekend filled with laughter, friendship, love, and plenty of basketball memories, exactly what being part of the Islanders family is all about.

Wishing Carlo and Charles all the best on their next adventure! You’ll always have a place in the Islanders family!
