🥋 Karate isn’t about learning how to fight. It’s about learning to believe in yourself.
When a child is being bullied, we often suggest karate....but not because we want them to learn how to fight back.
Karate can help a child build confidence, self-discipline, resilience and self-respect. It teaches them to stand a little taller, carry themselves with confidence, and understand that they have value.
Most importantly, they begin to understand something that can be very difficult for a child to see when they’re being bullied:
They are NOT the problem. The bully’s behaviour is the problem.
🥋 Karate teaches children that strength isn't about hurting someone.
It's about knowing your worth.
It's about having confidence in yourself.
It's about staying calm when someone tries to tear you down.
And it's about knowing when to walk away and when to ask for help.
Sometimes the biggest change isn't what happens on the dojo floor , it's the confidence a child carries with them when they walk back into the schoolyard.
