🆕New: Brandon City Pound: A lost pet is now available for adoption. *REPOST, new picture. Ocean was surrendered to us May 21st after months of the owner trying to rehome her. Ocean’s energy level and size started causing safety concerns for the children in the home, so she is not suitable for a home with kids under 12 or seniors. She was originally found on a reserve in Saskatchewan with a litter of puppies, was taken in and vetted by a rescue out there, but the rescue has stated they do not take animals back. Ocean is nearly 5 years old, roughly 55lbs, spayed, and up to date on rabies and parvo vaccines. While she has no issue with other large dogs when she’s in her run or in the yard with staff, she’s a bit reactive with other dogs when she’s in her kennel, so we urge potential adopters to do a slow and proper introduction for everyone’s safety. We were told she previously lived with a cat and while she hasn’t shown any aggression towards them, she does get very focused so she would need a slow and proper introduction to them as well. Ocean is a chewer with a love for Kongs and large chew rings she can wear as a necklace. In her kennel, she has been known to chew blankets, and occasionally the floor when she’s dragged all her toys outside - we don’t expect this to be a problem in a home with adequate exercise and mental stimulation. We want to make it clear that Ocean is not a bad dog, she’s a sweet girl who needs a bit of work and lots of love.
