Professor Matt Kwan will be returning in October for a weekend of seminars! Matt recently competed in the Advanced Adult division at the ADCC Open in Texas and medaled against world-class opponents. 😮‍💨 His seminars are beyond worth it and spots fill up fast, you must pay to reserve your spot. All gyms welcome.

Congrats to Peter on his blue belt promotion last night! 🟦 We knew from the moment Pete became hooked on jits that he’s a lifer. Looking forward to watching your game continue to grow Pete, we’re lucky to have you 💪🏼

Putting a quintet team together with ~30 hobbyist adults in total as training partners is not easy

Super proud of our team and the level of jiu jitsu we bring to competition and have on our mats daily

Lots to learn from this weekend - a lot of it comes down to getting more reps in competing as most of us only compete 1-2 times a year (if that) - but feeling super proud of not only our athletes but also the amount of support we have from our members. We filled a whole section with our support!

Thanks so much Fury Fights Victoria for organizing, definitely not an easy feat. A special thanks to Mikey for filling in, and a special shout out to Aaron for an awesome performance in the Gi. Also, Jake the Snake is heading back to Montreal. We’ll miss ya buddy.

A huge congratulations to Westin on reaching 100 Wins in his BJJ competition history this weekend. It can’t be overstated how much of an accomplishment this is for anyone in the sport, especially at 11 years old!

Anyone that has been around BJJ for a significant amount of time, whether coaching or training or parenting, knows that it’s a revolving door when it comes to training partners and especially competitors - it’s not an easy sport mentally or physically and will test you over and over and over again. Westin has had hard days on the competition mats but consistently overcomes them and always comes back better. He has a natural ability in the sport that’s apparent when watching him (and his medal collection shows for it) and we know we only have a few short years before he’s putting the smoke on our adults as well 😅 On top of that, he is a fantastic training partner to have in the gym and very coachable.

Residing in northern Vancouver Island makes competing much more of a commitment and hassle than it does for competitors living in big cities - thank you to James & Chelsea for supporting Westin for all of these years and all of the travels and hotels you’ve invested in!!!
