WELCOME TO THE CRMHA, We aim to develop leaders in our community through the enjoyment of hockey!

We’re excited to announce Ed Stacey as the Head Coach of our U15 CRMHA T2 Tyees for the 2026–27 season!

Ed was born and raised in Ontario, where he grew up playing hockey before moving around the province for school, work, and eventually to start his family. Thirteen years ago, Ed and his family moved to Northern BC, followed by a move to Campbell River six years ago.

Ed discovered his passion for coaching when his son started hockey 11 years ago. Since then, he has continued to develop as a coach through grassroots and rep hockey, player development, and opportunities to support and grow girls’ hockey in our community. For the past three spring/summer seasons, Ed has coached girls preparing for rep hockey, and last season he returned to the Tyees program as Head Coach of the U18 team.
Now, Ed is excited to take on the U15 T2 Tyees and looks forward to another fun season!

We’re thrilled to have Ed back with the Tyees and look forward to a season filled with development, competition, teamwork, and plenty of fun at the rink!

Welcome back, Ed — we’re excited to have you leading the U15 T2 Tyees! 🧡🏒

🏒 WELCOME TO THE BENCH, COACH GREG! 🏒
We’re thrilled to welcome Greg Hornby back behind the bench as he takes on the role of Head Coach for our U13 CRMHA Tyees A Team for the 2026–27 season!

Greg brings an impressive hockey background, along with years of coaching experience and a genuine passion for helping young players develop. We’re excited to have his experience, knowledge, and enthusiasm leading the Tyees this season!

Greg grew up playing minor hockey in Parksville and Nanaimo before advancing to junior hockey with the Nanaimo Clippers of the BCHL. After two successful seasons with the Clippers, he earned a hockey scholarship to Cornell University, where he competed in the NCAA and earned his Bachelor of Science degree. Following his collegiate career, Greg played three seasons of professional hockey in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL).

Greg has been actively involved in coaching with CRMHA for many years. He began coaching when his two sons started hockey in U7 and has continued behind the bench every season since. Last year, he coached the U13 Tyees B team.

Greg is excited to return this season as Head Coach of the U13 Tyees A team.
“I’m looking forward to helping young hockey players develop their skills while creating a fun, competitive, and challenging team environment.”

Please join us in welcoming Coach Greg to the U13 Tyees A bench! 🏒🧡
Let’s have a great season, Tyees!

Introducing the 2026–2027 U11A Development Tyees Head Coach: Mike Alexander!

We’re excited to announce Mike Alexander as the Head Coach of our U11A Development Tyees for the upcoming season!

Mike grew up playing rep hockey right here in Campbell River with the Tyees before going on to play Junior A and in the WHL. After finishing his playing career, he found a new way to stay involved in the game he loves through coaching, working with players of all ages — including coaching his own daughter Sophie and son Nathan.

Now, he’s bringing that experience back to the Tyees program and is looking forward to helping the next generation of players grow.

“I’m honoured to be selected to coach the U11A Tyees this year and am really excited to get started. I’m looking forward to a great season, helping the players develop, compete, have fun and build a love for the game that will stay with them for years to come.”

We’re thrilled to have Mike leading this group and can’t wait to see what this team accomplishes together!

Welcome back to the Tyees family, Mike! 🐟🏒🧡

🏒 The countdown to hockey season is ON! 🧡

Things are starting to get busy around the rink, and we’re excited to get the 2026–27 season underway!

North Island Zone T1 Tryouts kicked off this weekend!

First Shift Program: Only 4 spots remaining! If your child is new to hockey and wants to give it a try, there’s still time to register.

Tyee Rep Tryouts, including U11 Development, begin after the long weekend!

Recreation Hockey gets underway later in September, and we’re currently working on finalizing this year’s ice schedule. If you’re trying to plan other activities around hockey, our tentative weekly practice times for recreation hockey are:

U7 — Wednesdays at 5:15 PM
U8/U9 — Tuesdays or Thursdays at 5:15 PM
U11 — Tuesdays or Thursdays at 6:30 PM
U13 — Tuesdays at 8:00 PM, Wednesdays at 6:30 PM or Thursdays at 7:45 PM
U15 — Wednesdays at 7:45 PM
U18 — Tuesdays at 9:15 PM or Wednesdays/Thursdays at 9:00 PM

Please note: These practice times are tentative and may change as we finalize ice allocations and the season schedule. Final schedules will be shared once confirmed.

We also need volunteers! Our hockey programs rely on amazing volunteers to get kids on the ice. If you’re thinking about coaching, managing or helping out this season, now is a great time to get involved. Required courses must be completed before going on the ice, so don’t wait until the season starts to get them done!

The rink is busy, tryouts are underway, and hockey season is officially here! 🏒🧡 See you at the rink!
