As we prepare for the exciting new season ahead, we are taking a look back to celebrate our Officials of the Year for the 2025-26 season.

*Senior Official of the Year*
SYL BOHÉMIER

This was a big year for Syl as she was completing her Level 4 Evaluator certification - a huge accomplishment! Syl completed dozens of evaluations and feedbacks this season for Calgary and area officials, leading the way in developing our officials at all levels. Syl is also supporting other evaluators develop - she completed supervised evaluations and offered mentorship within the evaluating community, furthering our capacity to develop officials.

Syl does all this while continuing to be a high performing official herself - she actively officiates at the NRL level, travelling to hub events. She was selected to attend the Canadian Ringette Championships again this year, and earned the 19AA Gold Medal final at that event - one of the most prestigious assignments.

Oh, and did we mention Syl was also a mentor in our mentorship program providing high performance mentorship to high performance officials. She does so much!

We appreciate Syl’s leadership, knowledge of the game, and commitment to developing the officiating community. Thank you Syl for your incredible work this season and every season!

*Junior Official of the Year*
TATUM MACDONALD

As a first year official, Tatum embodies the qualities and characteristics we look for: officials looking to be at their best and to perform at their highest ability. Tatum led the way with “most games reffed” as a first year official. Reffing lots of games is a critical step to learning and seeing different situations on the ice and figuring out what to do in those situations. Tatum is proof of the benefit of officiating so many games.

She is always looking for feedback and she is keen to implement feedback in her games. She is highly organized and professional, leading us to rely on her and be able to count on her.

We are excited to see Tatum continue this season - we have no doubt there are no limitations where she can go with officiating! Congratulations Tatum on your fabulous first year of reffing!

Congratulations to Calgary and Airdrie official Kristy Puszkar on being selected to attend the 2026 Officiating Performance of Excellence Program (OPOE) in Regina, Saskatchewan, from August 3–8, 2026.

The OPOE is designed to enhance the leadership and officiating abilities of all participants. In addition to on-ice skills and skating sessions, officials will participate in classroom sessions with a range of topics from nutrition to team-building, mental performance and more. The week culminates in intersquad games for the U17 La Relève development program.

Kristy has been officiating since 2012 and is a proud Métis woman, successful business owner, and dedicated leader within the officiating community. In addition to her on-ice officiating, she has also participated as a shot clock official at the national level. She also mentors the next generation of on-ice officials as a Level 3 Evaluator.

We are incredibly proud to have Kristy representing both Calgary, Airdrie, and Alberta at this outstanding national development opportunity.

SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINE: August 7th

The Ringette Alberta Scholarship Program opens June 1, and applications are now being accepted for athletes who have shown strong academic achievement and a commitment to the sport of ringette both on and off the ice.

These scholarships are designed to support athletes pursuing post-secondary education while continuing their involvement in ringette and helping shape the future of our sport.

In 2026, Ringette Alberta will award up to four scholarships valued at $1,500 each, along with one scholarship valued at $2,000.

Applicants must be enrolled in full-time post-secondary studies for the 2026-27 academic year and have actively participated as a registered Ringette Alberta player.

Applications require:
• Completed application form
• Personal letter
• Ringette résumé
• Two letters of reference
• Official transcript of your most recently completed academic year
