What a summer of rugby it’s been!

Huge thank you to everyone who came out for our summer camps this year, the energy, the smiles, and the love for the game made it one to remember! Watching these players grow, learn, and have so much fun together is exactly what it’s all about.

Semi finals, provincials, exhibitions, this weekend has it ALL. Come out and support Southern Alberta rugby at every level!

Congratulations to all of our newest youth champions! An incredible weekend of rugby across the U16 and U18 divisions.

And the excitement doesn't stop there, several of these champions are headed to Provincials THIS WEEKEND to compete for even bigger hardware! Go get it, Southern Alberta!

Massive congratulations to every athlete who battled it out this season — from the champions to every team that made it to the final. The future of Southern Alberta rugby is in great hands!

We are incredibly proud of one of our own, Tara, who has been awarded a prestigious scholarship from the Calgary Health Foundation through the Alberta Nurses Educational Trust (ANET)!

Tara continues to make an incredible impact both on and off the pitch. As the youngest Nurse Clinician in Foothills Medical Centre’s history, she is passionate about patient-centred cardiac care, education, advocacy, and improving access to healthcare.

A player with the Calgary Canucks, Calgary Mavericks and Alberta Wolfpack, Tara also gives back through coaching and has been a dedicated member of our Women’s Day Committee for many years.

Congratulations, Tara, on this well-deserved recognition! We’re so proud to have you as part of our rugby community.

RUGBY, BREAKFAST & PINTS AT THE CLUBHOUSE!

We’re excited to have the Clubhouse OPEN for the next two Saturdays and welcome our rugby community down to CRP for a couple of great days of rugby, food and friends.

We’ll be showing South Africa vs the All Blacks live on TV, with doors opening at 8:00 AM.

We’re also very excited to welcome our new Head Chef, Johnnel, who’ll be serving up his brand-new breakfast menu! Come down early, try some of Johnnel’s delicious food, grab a pint and enjoy the international rugby with our CRP community.

Start the morning with South Africa vs All Blacks, then stick around for the final AC game of the season on CRP1 — Canucks vs Hornets!

SATURDAY, AUGUST 29
Another morning of South Africa vs All Blacks, followed by a full afternoon of Men’s Southern Alberta Finals at CRP:

12:00 PM — Division 3 Final
2:00 PM — Division 2 Final
4:00 PM — AC Final

Big weekend of rugby! Here's how things went:

Saracens are Provincial Champions! A dominant performance, winning 64–35 against the Pirates. Congratulations to the entire team on an outstanding season!

Hornets fought hard at provincials but came up short against LT's. A great season overall, and so much to be proud of, thank you for representing Southern Alberta all year!

Looking ahead: the men head into semi finals this weekend! Time to bring that same energy.

The Calgary Rugby Union is deeply saddened by the passing of Colin “Cowboy” Ogilvy. Our thoughts are with the Ogilvy family, the Calgary Canucks, and the many friends and members of our rugby community who knew and loved him.

Colin’s contribution to rugby in Calgary is difficult to put into words. For more than a decade, he served selflessly as President of the Calgary Rugby Union, giving countless hours, tremendous energy, and unwavering commitment to strengthening our game and our community.

His leadership and hard work helped shape the CRU and grow rugby across Calgary. Like so many of the people who have built our sport, he gave his time simply because he cared deeply about rugby and the people in it. We are incredibly grateful for everything he gave to the Union over so many years.

This is a tremendous loss for the Calgary rugby community. Colin’s impact will be felt for years to come, and his legacy will live on in the people, clubs and game he worked so hard to support.

Thank you for everything, Cowboy. You will be deeply missed.
