The Monterey Park Community Association website has a new address and has recently gone through some major updates.

Our updated website makes it easier to stay connected with what’s happening in our community and access important information, including:

• Find information about our facilities
• Learn more about membership and how to get involved

This is just the beginning. We’re continuing to make improvements and add new features to better serve our community.

Trees for Monterey Park

The City of Calgary is providing 200 trees to residents of Monterey Park as part of a pilot project to help increase Calgary’s tree canopy.

Trees are available on a first-come, first-served basis, with one tree available per household.

Residents can register by scanning the QR code on the graphic. Registration is open until Friday, August 28, or until all 200 trees have been requested.

If selected, residents will be responsible for planting, watering and caring for their tree. Tree pickup will take place on Saturday, September 12, at the location provided in your confirmation email.

Four tree species will be available:
• Gladiator Crabapple
• Spring Snow Crabapple
• Greenspire Linden
• Japanese Tree Lilac

The Community Association is sharing this information on behalf of the City to help ensure Monterey Park residents are aware of the opportunity. All registration, program inquiries and tree distribution are being managed by the City of Calgary.

⚠️ August Safety Reminder: Preventing Accidental Poisoning

Accidental poisonings can happen quickly, especially with curious children in the home. This month, Emergency Health Services (EHS) paramedics are reminding parents and caregivers to take simple precautions to help keep children safe.

Medications, cleaning products, dishwasher and laundry tablets, mouthwash, chemicals, button batteries and other common household items can all pose a poisoning risk.

🔒 Store medications and household products in locked cabinets or containers and out of children’s reach.
📦 Keep medications in their original packaging and never combine different medications in one bottle.
🧴 Remember that child-resistant packaging is not always child-proof.
🌱 Label plants in and around your home and garden.
🗑️ Safely dispose of medications and toxic household products that are no longer in use.

If you suspect a poisoning, call the Poison and Drug Information Service (PADIS) at 1-800-332-1414. In an emergency, call 9-1-1.

Doing some summer cleaning? Have old metal taking up space in your garage, basement, or yard? Bring it to the Monterey Park Community Association’s metal recycling bin in the MPCC parking lot!

🔩 We’re collecting metal items and items containing metal, including old kitchen appliances, metal shelving and racks, vacuums, car parts, scrap metal, metal building materials, and more.

📍 Where: MPCC parking lot
📅 Deadline: Before Tuesday, August 4 — that’s when the bin will be picked up!

Recycling your unwanted metal helps keep it out of the landfill and raises money for our community. 💚 When we recycled electronics in June, we raised over $800!

Instead of making a trip to the landfill, bring your unwanted metal to us and help turn that clutter into support for Monterey Park.

Calgary Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in locating 11-year-old Parker, who was last seen on Thursday, July 16, 2026, between 11:08 a.m. and 11:41 a.m. in the 0–100 block of Connaught Drive N.W.

Description:
• 4’11” tall
• Brown hair and brown eyes
• Approximately 90 lbs
• Last seen shirtless, wearing grey shorts, black noise-cancelling headphones, and black Skechers.
