What is Just Hunt INC.?

People keep asking me, "What is Just Hunt INC.? When did it start? Why did you create it?" The truth is, Just Hunt didn't start with hunting. It started with a lifetime of experiences that all somehow came together.

As a kid, I wanted to be an architect. I was convinced that was my path. Instead, life took me in a completely different direction, and looking back, every stop along the way taught me something that helped build what Just Hunt is today. I spent years involved in a rig truck company where I learned sales, marketing, trade shows, customer relations, and the value of hard work. It also taught me hands-on skills like mechanics, welding, problem-solving, and figuring things out when there wasn't anyone else to do it for you.

Then came Fitness Fanatik Magazine, which taught me journalism, publishing, photography, content creation, and how to find the stories worth telling. It taught me how to ask questions, listen to people, and create something that others wanted to read.

Working at ServiceOntario gave me a whole different education. It taught me patience, licensing requirements, regulations, and how to work with people who were often frustrated, stressed, impatient, or simply looking for answers. Those customer service skills have been invaluable throughout my career.

My time at Shooters Choice opened the door to an incredible amount of knowledge about fi****ms, ammunition, reloading, optics, firearm safety, and the diverse community that surrounds shooting sports. Every day was an opportunity to learn something new.

Alongside all of that, I worked as a Resource Manager with the Ministry of Natural Resources, continued building websites, creating marketing campaigns, attending trade shows, learning media, and eventually stepping into television production, producing, and editing.

What most people don't realize is that Just Hunt is the result of all those experiences combined. It's not just a hunting company. It's sales, marketing, storytelling, customer service, media, production, education, events, mentorship, and a passion for helping others discover the outdoors.

Every job I had taught me something. Every challenge added another skill. Every experience helped shape the person and business owner I am today.

So when people ask when Just Hunt started, I honestly don't know what date to give them. Was it when I launched the company? Or was it 25 years ago when I started learning all the skills that would eventually make it possible? One thing I know for sure: if there's something you want to do, start. You don't need to know everything on day one. Learn as you go.

Say yes to opportunities. Be willing to fail, adapt, and keep moving forward. Because sometimes the path you thought you were supposed to take isn't nearly as interesting as the one you end up building yourself. And looking back, I wouldn't change a thing.
