Full range vs Partial range squatting is a debate that will never end. However nuance is important. Let’s shed some light on this. Im a believer that structure potentiates function. Functional (CNS) adaptations can happen much quicker than structural adaptations (muscle mass, tendon thickness, etc) This is why to this day athletes and coaches have jumped on the 1/4, 1/2 squat train because they see improvements in CNS performance quite rapidly… you plateau just as fast too. However, you are missing crucial architectural and mechanical muscle adaptations that are dependent on the ROM used in training that aids in both injury reduction and performance enhancement. Athletic attributes and proprioceptive capacities required to execute a full depth squat are second to none. These will induce strength gains in all ranges. Let me put it this way. If you are able to full squat 300+ lbs, you will possess the capacity to quarter squat 400+ lbs. But, not everyone who quarter squat 400+ lbs will possess the capacity to full squat 300+ pounds.
