Yesterday we tested our Push Press, and the results were about so much more than the numbers on the bar.

Yes, we celebrated some incredible PRs, but we also saw athletes improve their movement, timing, and confidence with the lift.

This cycle was all about understanding the Push Press—learning to stay tall in the dip, finding the right timing on the drive, and generating more power from the hips. Those small technical improvements add up to stronger, more efficient lifts.

A personal record isn’t always more weight. Sometimes it’s better mechanics. Better timing. More confidence under the bar. Better movement.

That’s real progress, and it’s exactly what good coaching is all about. 💪

Fun little toes-to-bar progression in our programming this week! 👣

The drill looks like this:
➡️ 1 high knee (both knees up)
➡️ 1 single-leg toes-to-bar (right)
➡️ 1 high knee
➡️ 1 single-leg toes-to-bar (left)
➡️ Repeat

This is one of those drills that looks simple but teaches a lot.
The high knee reinforces an active kip and helps you keep your swing moving. Alternating with a single-leg toes-to-bar lets you focus on driving from the hips, keeping your shoulders active, and feeling the timing of the movement—without having to coordinate both legs at once.

By isolating each side, you build better body awareness, improve control through the kip, and learn to keep your momentum instead of stopping between reps. As those pieces come together, linking full toes-to-bar becomes much more efficient.

Sometimes the best way to get better at a skill isn’t by doing more full reps—it’s by slowing it down and mastering the pieces that make the movement work.

People ask where the name Durst came from.

It means to dare—to take that first step, even when your heart is racing and you’re not sure you belong.

Before CrossFit, I wasn’t the athlete. I loved fitness, but CrossFit felt intimidating. Like it was for other people—stronger people, more experienced people. Not me.

I remember standing outside the gym, wondering if I should even walk in.

But I did.

And everything changed.

Not because I was good—I wasn’t. I was learning, struggling, figuring things out one rep at a time. But I was supported. I was seen. I was guided.

Someone met me where I was.

That’s what made me fall in love with it.

And that’s what I knew I wanted to create.
A place where beginners aren’t an afterthought—they’re the priority.Where you’re coached, not judged.Where every movement is taught, every question is welcomed, and every small win matters.

A place where it’s okay to feel nervous… because we’ve all been there.

Because walking through those doors isn’t easy.

It takes courage.

It takes Durst. ❤️

New Space. New Opportunities. 🚀

One of the things we’re most excited about with our new space isn’t just the bigger gym, the Recovery Room, or the new toys...

It’s the opportunity to continue investing in our people.

At CrossFit Durst, we believe great communities are built by great coaches. Whether coaching is someone’s full-time career or something they do because they genuinely love helping others, our coaches are the heartbeat of what we do.

As we grow, we want to grow with them.

That means expanding our coaching team, creating more opportunities for development, and adding new perks that recognize the time and care our coaches pour into our members every single day.

Some of what’s coming includes:
🔥 Recovery Room access (sauna & cold plunge)*
📚 More paid coach development and education opportunities
💪 Assistance with CrossFit recertifications*
❤️ Complimentary class & recovery memberships for spouses*
📈 More opportunities to grow within our coaching team

*Some benefits are based on coaching hours.

We’re also excited to be looking for passionate coaches, as well as yoga and Pilates instructors, who want to be part of building something special.

If you’re looking for a place where community comes first, coaches are valued, and growth is encouraged, we’d love to chat.

This next chapter is about more than a new building.

It’s about building an even stronger team.

Calories vs. Macros 🍎

One of the biggest misconceptions in nutrition is that calories and macros are two different things.

They’re not.
Macros make up your calories.

Here’s the breakdown:
🥩 Protein: 4 calories per gram🍞 Carbohydrates: 4 calories per gram🥑 Fat: 9 calories per gram

When you add up the calories from your protein, carbohydrates, and fat, you get your total daily calorie intake.

For example:• 150g Protein = 600 calories• 200g Carbohydrates = 800 calories• 67g Fat = 603 calories
Total = 2,003 calories

So, what matters more?
✅ Calories determine whether you lose, gain, or maintain weight.
✅ Macros determine how those calories are distributed to support your goals, whether that’s building muscle, improving performance, increasing energy, or staying fuller for longer.

Think of it like this:
Calories are your budget.Macros are how you spend it.
You can’t have one without the other.

If all of this still feels overwhelming, you’re not alone. Nutrition can seem complicated when you’re trying to figure it out on your own.
That’s exactly why we’re here.

At 360 Nutrition Coaching, we take the guesswork out of nutrition. We don’t just hand you a set of macros—we help you understand what they mean, why they matter, and how to make them fit your lifestyle. Whether your goal is fat loss, building muscle, improving your health, or simply feeling better, we’ll create a plan that’s realistic and sustainable.

💯 100 Classes. In just 6 months.

When Sarah walked through our doors in January, she wasn’t looking for perfect timing. She was looking for something that would make her stronger.

Fast forward to today, and she’s officially joined the 100 Club. 🎉

As a single mom to two busy boys, life is full. Between work, practices, school, and everything else that comes with raising a family, it would have been easy to say, “I’ll start when life slows down.”
Instead, Sarah chose to say yes.

Yes to showing up.Yes to challenging herself.Yes to running with our Run Club.Yes to taking on HYROX.Yes to becoming stronger—physically and mentally.

One of our favourite things about Sarah is her attitude: say yes and figure it out later. That mindset has opened doors she probably never imagined when she started.

The amazing part isn’t just the 100 classes. It’s the confidence she’s built, the friendships she’s made, and the example she’s setting for her boys—that taking care of yourself isn’t selfish, it’s powerful.

Sarah, we’re so proud of everything you’ve accomplished, and we can’t wait to see what your next 100 classes bring. ❤️

If you’ve been waiting for the “right time” to start, take this as your sign. Life probably won’t get less busy—but you can get stronger, healthier, and more confident through it all.

Click the link below and booked your no sweat intro and learn how to get started. Your 100-class celebration starts with your very first one.

🤸‍♀️ Handstand Walk Drill: PVC Target

One of our favourite drills for building confidence in your handstand walk!

Have a partner hold a PVC pipe just behind your heels. The PVC acts like a “moving wall,” giving you a target without letting you rely on it.

The goal isn’t to lean on the PVC—it’s to use it as feedback while you:

✅ Stay tall through your shoulders
✅ Keep your core tight
✅ Find your balance
✅ Take controlled steps forward

As your confidence grows, your partner can gradually move the PVC farther away or provide less support until you’re walking completely on your own.

Like most CrossFit skills, handstand walking isn’t about one magic trick. It’s about practicing the right progressions consistently.
