🌎 ⚽️ Theme Day Thursday kicked off in style! 🏆

Our very first Theme Day Thursday of the summer was a celebration of the World Cup, and our skaters definitely brought the energy! From jerseys representing countries around the globe to plenty of smiles, teamwork, and fun both on and off the ice, it was a fantastic way to celebrate the world’s biggest game.

We can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with for next week’s theme! ❤️⛸️

🏆We are pleased to share the recipient of our 2026 SCBC Spirit of Skating Award. This is a special acknowledgement that we award each season to a skater who truly embodies the spirit of our club through professionalism, sportsmanship, leadership and team spirit.

⭐️Shubham Panchal⭐️
 
Shubham brings enthusiasm and energy to every session and consistently creates a welcoming and encouraging environment for those around him. His passion for skating is evident in everything he does. He approaches training with excitement, embraces new challenges, and continually strives to improve, regardless of the obstacles he may face.
 
One of Shubham’s most admirable qualities is his ability to persevere. He approaches setbacks with determination, remains focused on his goals, and never loses sight of his love for the sport. His resilience and commitment serve as an inspiration to both his peers and younger skaters within our club.
 
Whether he is working toward his own goals or supporting those around him, he leads by example through his kindness, sportsmanship, and unwavering dedication. Shubham’s positive attitude and genuine love of skating help make our club a stronger and more welcoming community.

🏆We are pleased to share the recipient of our 2026 SCBC Podium Pathway Athletes of the Year…

⭐️Kayleigh Chao & Jonathan Ma⭐️

Kayleigh and Jonathan have shown tremendous growth throughout the season, embracing every challenge with determination and professionalism. Through countless hours of training, they have continued to strengthen their partnership, refine their skills, and push themselves to reach new levels of performance.
 
Their hard work and commitment produced outstanding results this season, including a Silver Medal performance at the Skate Canada Trophy placing them second in all of Canada. These achievements earned Kayleigh and Jonathan the opportunity to represent Canada on the international stage in Lodz, Poland where they proudly captured a Bronze Medal.
 
Their success is a reflection not only of their talent, but also of their teamwork, resilience, and unwavering dedication to the sport. They have been recently named to the 2026-2027 Skate Canada Next Gen team and will be making the jump to Junior this season. We love watching Kayleigh and Jonathan shine on the ice, with performance qualities many seasoned athletes never achieve.  We cannot wait to see what the future has in store for these two hardworking and talented athletes.

⭐️Alexa Aglipay⭐️

Alexa consistently demonstrates an outstanding work ethic and a determination to achieve her goals. She approaches every practice with focus and purpose, always striving to improve and challenge herself. Her positive attitude, resilience, and commitment to her development have contributed to a very successful season.
 
This year, Alexa competed in the Provincial Pathway at the Star 5 level, gaining valuable experience and achieving impressive results along the way. She had a breakout season winning medals and qualifying for her first Skate Ontario Provincial Championship in the very competitive Star 5 under 10 category. Alexa’s hard work has positioned her well for the next step in her skating journey as she prepares to move into the Podium Pathway at the Pre-Juvenile level.
 
A role model to her peers, she leads by example through her dedication, sportsmanship, and love of the sport. We are excited to see what Alexa accomplishes in the seasons ahead!

We are incredibly grateful to be able to skate in this beautiful country and to have many of our athletes proudly represent Canada and our community.

Today, we also recognize the land where our home rink is located. For thousands of years, this has been the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee, Anishinabewaki, Attiwonderonk, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Mississauga, and Wendake-Nionwentsïo peoples. We are grateful to live, learn, and train on this land.

As our off-ice program continues to grow and expand, we are pleased to be able to present the SCBC Off-Ice Excellence award to several deserving skaters this season.

This award is about more than just physical strength, it’s about character, commitment, and leadership. The athletes receiving this award show up every day with purpose. They never question the workouts, never look for shortcuts. They trust the process, put their heads down, and grind.

These are the teammates who raise the standard for everyone around them. The ones who remind us that greatness isn’t just found on the ice, it’s built long before that, in every sprint, every rep, every choice.

We’re proud to celebrate you today because the way you show up every day inspires everyone around you to be better.
