Many thanks to our members who chose to support the Friendly at Wetheral on Sunday. We were on the wrong end of the result, but enjoyed good company, a good green, and excellent food. These games are not really about winning, although we all like to, but more about making new friends, and renewing old acquaintances. These games are important to the Club, as they give members a relaxed introduction to competitive play, and might encourage them to play in Club competitions and League Matches, and I would encourage all members to support them.

We have a busy weekend coming up, with the Club Mixed Pairs commencing at 1 pm on Saturday, on Sunday we travel to Kirkbride Bowling Club for our Friendly. If you are available to play, and don't have your names down yet, please do so.

Well done to everyone that’s played in the heat this week….a change from playing in the rain …but seriously hope no one felt ill during or after a game. We want to enjoy playing but not at the expense of our health.
We’ve had a friendly at home to Longtown today and a nice breeze making it more comfortable to play.
Meanwhile some of the ladies have been playing in Open Triples competitions at Linton and Caldbeck.
On Thursday at a very hot and muggy Linton Christine Roy,Pam Wood & Sheila Wilson came 3rd ..then today at Caldbeck ..Christine Roy,Pam Wood & Hope Calvert came 1st. Well done to them.

It’s with great sadness that I have to tell you that John Davidson died this morning. He had been ill and not played for sometime but will be fondly remembered at the club.
He looked after the green for many years and won many competitions at the Club. He was very competitive and had a certain way that’ let you know ‘if he wasn’t happy with your bowls but he would also help you out and give advice when needed….. a true gentleman.
John and his late wife Joyce were at the Club for many years and we now have his great grandson as a junior member who will hopefully go on to win as many trophies as John.
Our deepest sympathies go to his son Gerald & wife Gillian ,daughter Christine & husband Keith & his grandchildren & great grandchildren.
Update…
John’s funeral will be held at Carlisle crematorium on Thursday June 11th at 11.00am.
