This is the video I want to go viral
I threw my 15-month-old into the pool to see what she would do…
Brinnleigh immediately tried to swim toward the wall. When she realized she wasn’t going to make it, she found her back on her own.
And then she waited.
20 seconds.
20 seconds floating on her back, waiting for me to come and get her.
I was honestly in shock.
She’s only 15 months old, but she’s so brave and she has worked SO hard for this.
And I think this is important to add…
This is what, conservatively, 150+ hours in the pool working with your swimmer can look like.
This didn’t happen overnight. It’s been hundreds of little moments. Repetition. Exposure. Practice. Trust. Doing the same skills over and over again until they start to become her response.
She tried to swim.
She realized she couldn’t make it.
She found her back.
And she waited for help.
At 15 months old. 🥹
THIS is why we put in the work. 🤍
Beyond Buoyancy Aquatics
Welcome, Tara & John here, owners and head swimming instructors at Beyond Buoyancy Aquatics; a priva Each Session will run Monday - Thursday for 8 days.
The lessons will be 30 minutes. Fridays will be used as a rain day for severe weather.
Are you using the correct hold for your specific swimmer? 👀
Not every swimmer needs the same type of support!
Because he is a bottom-heavy swimmer, he naturally wants to lift his head, causing his hips and legs to sink. By transitioning my hand from an underhand to an overhand hold, I can gently guide his face forward into the water and encourage a longer, more balanced swimming position.
We’re also continuously moving from a forward swim into a back float swim, laying back with ears in the water and finding the sky.
Small changes in our hand placement can make a BIG difference in helping each swimmer find the correct body position! 💦🐢
Try this with your swimmer and let us know!
Welcome to Day 1 of 15 minute trial lessons with my 4year old friend Chase!
Getting in the pool is the hardest part with any nervous, anxious & terrified swimmers.
Working through the difficult moments is so important, we always see them through. I’m so proud of Day 1
How do you think day 2 went?
Your swimmers first line of defence should be finding air.
Learning to swim properly, with perfect technique will come in time. Let’s give our swimmers all the chance we can.
Wherever you decide to go for lessons, this should be a priority - Finding air.
I’m so proud of her.
Let’s keep teaching all kids to swim, together!
