Smoothstone Lake Lodge

Well its the May long weekend. Opening day of fishing season in the north. I know everyone is anxious to get out there. Just a few reminders of things you will need on the boat. A parka, mitts and toque. Also an ice chisel and an auger. Actually we have had some really nice days and spring is just around the corner.

And we thought only men thought it was important to pose with trophies. Boy were we wrong.... Nothing like teamwork. What this also represents is a long winter and cabin fever working its way out.

I sure am glad they can't see me hiding behind all this bush. Good place for a nap. Glad I'm so small.

Well we arrive at the end of another year. Time does not stop. As the sun sets on 2025 and we reflect back on the year and I choose not to reflect on the negative but on blessing. We have truly been blessed. Take time to reflect with a thankful heart. Thank you for your friendship and support. Wishing you all the best as you enter into 2026 and in the words of a song that most know, "May the good Lord be with you down every road you roam". Hope to see you down the trail. God Bless

Hi Everyone. Well you all know long by now, unless its a marvel of God's creation, I don't post a lot but tonight in that cold -10 wind coming of the lake, the ice crystals starting to form on shore, the bright moon light and the northern lights. I was in total awe. Had to share it.

I love all of God's creation but there moments when you a close up look that makes you go WOW. This was one of the biggest lynx I have seen in our 28 years here. Rarely do you get such a close up encounter. They are absolutely beautiful animals.

And Heaven and Nature sings. We have not posted in a while and so I thought it was time. Trust you are all well. Thankful for wonderful memories with so many of you. I am also thankful for seasons and who says you can't have fun at -34. Its amazing actually (and really cold). The winter scenes are so awesome that even the animals take it in and smile. Oh how marvelous, Oh how wonderful. Probably a familiar line to many. Happy Thanksgiving Sunday. Its always hard to believe how fast the summer goes by. Its at this time of year the I find myself reflecting a lot. So very much to be thankful for. We are so grateful for the support we have been shown by so many of you our friends over the years. Have a blessed Thanksgiving. For the friends and family who are hurting with either loss or illness, know that we pray for you. Take care all. Hope to see you down the trail.

We are pleased to announce the marriage of our son Hunter to Rebekah Hamm. We were blessed with a beautiful day to celebrate their vows to one another. So many of you have been a part of our lives through our work here at Smoothstone. We are thankful for your friendship and support and wanted share some pictures from their special day.

Hard to believe how fast 2023 went. We wish you all joy as you celebrate and hope to see you down the trail in 2024. Attached just a few pics. The ice froze very smooth this year. Really rare and so we have enjoyed that. We have a few wild friends that drop in and say hi. Thankful for them. We don't have partridge in a pear tree but we do have quite a few grouse in poplar trees. Anyway we just want to greet you all with grateful hearts. Blessings.
