📣 Club Support Needed – ASA Trail Passes
Hope everyone is having a great spring and gearing up for an awesome summer!
As much as we don’t want to think about winter just yet… we’re already planning ahead. ❄️
To remain an ASA club in good standing, we need to purchase 15 ASA Trail Passes by June 30.
If you’re able to support the club by picking one up (or know someone who can), it would be greatly appreciated. Every pass makes a difference and helps keep our trails and club running strong.

After 20–25 years of leading club rides, it’s time to pass the torch to a new generation of riders. TCSC is looking for members interested in helping host rides for the upcoming season:

LOCAL RIDES
• Plan and host Saturday or Sunday rides at Ministik

DESTINATION RIDES
• Plan and host weekend rides on ASA Club Trails and/or rallies of your choice

MOUNTAIN RIDES
• Plan and host select weekend rides in the mountains

📣 Trail Update – Ministik Closure
We’re sorry to share that Alberta Environment & Parks has closed the gates to Ministik as of February 6, 2026.
After the great snowfall in December, we truly thought we were set up for an amazing season of grooming and trail riding… but the weather had other plans. With no new snow since December and the recent warm temperatures, grass is now showing through the trails.
As a reminder, the rule requires a minimum of 6 inches of snow (between Dec 1–Feb 28) to protect the vegetation, and unfortunately, we no longer meet that requirement.
On top of that, the forecast from Feb 6–13 is calling for above‑freezing temperatures and no new snow, so this isn’t just a short‑term warm spell.
We’re disappointed too, but we hope everyone can still find some snow elsewhere to ride this season. ❄️

🚨 UNBELIEVABLE TRAIL DESTRUCTION – January 28, 2026 🚨
I cannot believe I even have to write this.
On our way back with the groomer last night, we found tracks from one sled and—brace yourself—a MOTORCROSS DIRT BIKE ripping straight down the freshly groomed snowmobile trail.
Yes.
A dirt bike.
On a groomed snowmobile trail.
In the middle of winter.
You cannot make this level of stupidity up.
This genius was spinning, fishtailing, and chewing through the trail like he was trying to win a prize for “Maximum Damage in Minimum Time.” The result? 4"–6" deep grooves carved into HOURS of grooming work. These will freeze solid and wreck the ride for EVERY SINGLE sledder coming through from Parking Lot #2 to Larry Lake.
Let’s spell this out:
✔️ TCSC uses a $100,000 groomer
✔️ Burns 200 litres of diesel
✔️ Puts 20 volunteer hours to get the trail perfect
✔️ All done by volunteers who actually care
And then one thoughtless, clueless, trail‑wrecking clown on a dirt bike destroys it in minutes.
If you know this person—or see anyone else doing this—educate them, call it out, stop them, whatever it takes. This isn’t a harmless mistake. It’s reckless, selfish destruction of a trail system that countless people work hard to maintain.
The light was terrible, so photos don’t show how awful the damage is… but trust me, you will see it yourself. The ruts are impossible to miss.
Enough is enough.
Respect the trails. Respect the work. Stop wrecking what others build.

❄️ Grooming Update! ❄️
Our amazing volunteers were hard at work today and groomed all the North and South trails!
🌲 Treed trails are smooth as butter and in fantastic shape.
🌬️ Open sections are a bit lower on snow, but the groomer was able to pull plenty onto the trail—there’s still lots of snow sitting beside the trail.
It’s shaping up to be a beautiful weekend to get out and enjoy the trails.
Huge thanks to our grooming crew for keeping everything in great condition! 🙌

🚨 Trail Update!
The tree that was blocking the trail towards Parking Lot #2 is now cleared. 💪🌲
Brought a younger rider out to help today — there’s nothing better than teaching the next generation how rewarding volunteering can be. As we made our way down the trail, you could clearly see all the spots where other club members had already been hard at work. A huge shoutout to everyone who puts in the time to keep our trails open and safe. 🙌
And of course, when you’re riding with a 6‑year‑old, you can’t forget the snacks, a couple treats, hot chocolate and a stop to admire the stars and the moon. 🌙 Moments like that make the perfect ride.
The trails are smooth, the vibes are great, and now we’re just hoping for that next big dump of snow. What I enjoy most is seeing it all through a kid’s eyes — no complaints about the temperature, the snow, or the trail conditions. Just pure excitement to get home from school and head out for an evening braap. ❄️❤️
Kids remind us to slow down and appreciate the simple things in life. Sometimes we need that lesson too.
So get out there — drop your scratchers down, the trails are smooth, and enjoy the snow we’ve got.
We’ll have all summer to stare at our sleds sitting in the garage. 🏁

🚨 Important Notice for All Sledders 🚨

Conservation Officers have asked us to share this message with our members. Please don’t shoot the messenger, we’re just passing this along. This always seems to be a point of contention and we’re not looking to debate the topic here, just pass this along to warn fellow members

Due to a growing number of riders not meeting legal requirements, officers will now be issuing fines for missing documents or improper plate mounting.
Just like driving a car or truck, you must have the proper documents and equipment with you while riding.
To avoid tickets, every sledder must carry:
✔ Valid Driver’s Licence
✔ Current Registration
✔ Proper Insurance
✔ A permanently mounted, clearly visible OHV licence plate
• Alberta regulations require plates to be securely mounted on the front or rear of the machine.
• Some officers recognize that mud flaps don’t hold up—so exceptions with side tunnel mounting is typcially acceptable, as long as the plate is secure, unobstructed, and easily visible.
✔ All paperwork must be on you or on the sled
It must be shown immediately if requested by an officer.

Why this matters
Conservation Officers are seeing widespread non‑compliance this season, so enforcement is being stepped up.
They will be issuing tickets under the Off‑Highway Vehicle Regulation (AR 319/2002), including:
• Section 19: Operating an OHV without a securely attached, legible, clearly visible licence plate.

Please check your sled before heading out and make sure everything is up to date, secure, and visible.

🌲 Ministik Trail Update – Jan 16 ❄️

A huge shout‑out to our trail maintenance crew who spent over 7 hours on Friday riding the entire Ministik trail system! They worked hard clearing close to 50 wind‑blown trees. Their focus was on removing the big ones, but there are still plenty of branches on the trails.
👉 If you’re out riding, please take a moment to help toss branches off the trail. Every little bit helps!
❄️ Grooming Update – TCSC Crew
Our grooming team was also out Friday assessing the conditions:
• North Section: Holding up well, but still would benefit from a groom.
• South Section: Very bumpy and definitely in need of grooming.
However, we’re facing two challenges before we can get the groomers back out:
1️⃣ We need fresh snow to help bond the icy bumps and chunks together.
2️⃣ We can’t groom until overnight temps reach –15°C or colder to set a solid base.
🤞 We’re keeping our fingers crossed that conditions line up so we can groom sometime next week.
