One week after a tough loss to the Hit Talkers, the TuneSquad responded with arguably their biggest win of the season, taking down the 13-0 Scared Hitless 9-4 and handing the reigning back-to-back D1 Champions their FIRST LOSS OF THE SEASON! 🧡💙

And the numbers make this one even more impressive.

Entering the game, Scared Hitless were averaging a ridiculous 14.3 RUNS PER GAME, while allowing just 5.8 RUNS PER GAME. The TuneSquad held that powerhouse offence to only 4 runs, more than TEN RUNS below their season average, while putting up 9 runs against a defence that had been one of the toughest in D1.

The Tunes came ready from the start. Alyssa Richardson was PERFECT at the plate, going 3-for-3 with 2 runs and 2 RBI, helping set the tone offensively.

After Scared Hitless tied things at 2-2, Will Desroches broke the tie with a solo shot in the third, part of a perfect 3-for-3 performance that also included a triple and two runs.

Then came the fourth.

With a runner aboard, Sam Blackburn launched an absolute MOONSHOT for a two-run homer, helping fuel a four-run inning that gave the TuneSquad control of the game.

But the story of this win was the defence.

Scared Hitless had scored at least 14 runs on an average night this season. Against the TuneSquad? FOUR.

Captain Jordan Richardson went all seven innings, while the defence behind him consistently made the plays needed to shut down the league’s most dangerous team.

And there couldn’t have been a better ending.

With the game on the line, JR struck out the Scared Hitless captain LOOKING, finding wood to record the final out and officially end the undefeated season. 🎯

Scared Hitless entered 13-0.

They left 13-1.

When the TuneSquad are operating at 100%, they just showed exactly what they’re capable of. 😤🔥

🔥 GAME 13: TUNESQUAD VS HIT TALKERS 🔥

The TuneSquad are back under the lights tonight for their third and final regular-season meeting with the Hit Talkers, with first pitch set for 7:30 PM on Diamond 10 at the Barrie Community Sports Complex.

And if the first two meetings are any indication, this matchup has changed dramatically since Opening Day.

The Hit Talkers handed the TuneSquad a 20-8 loss in Game 1, when the Tunes opened the season on a freezing cold night. When the teams met again on June 24, it was a completely different story. The TuneSquad battled them all the way to the finish in a 14-14 tie, showing just how far the team had come since that opening-night loss.

Now comes Round 3.

The TuneSquad enter at 4-7-1, while the Hit Talkers sit at 8-2-2, giving the Tunes another opportunity to test themselves against one of the stronger teams in the division and try to finish the season series with a win.

Featured on tonight’s poster is Number 15 Mel Blackburn, who has been absolutely locked in at the plate recently. Mel is coming off a perfect 3-for-3 performance against Just A Poke, part of a ridiculous stretch that has seen her record a hit in seven consecutive plate appearances over the last three games. After returning to the TuneSquad this season following two years away, she’s quickly reminded everyone what she can bring to this lineup.

The TuneSquad have shown flashes of what they’re capable of throughout the season, and tonight they’ll look to put it all together against a familiar opponent.

Tough one under the lights, but there was a lot to like from the TuneSquad bats. 🏀🔥

The TuneSquad came up just short in a 10-9 battle against Just A Poke, moving to 4-7-1 on the season.

After both teams traded a run in the first, the game stayed quiet until Just A Poke pushed three across in the fourth to take a 4-1 lead. The Tunes immediately responded with two in the bottom half before the bats really came alive in the fifth. A five-run inning flipped the game and gave the TuneSquad an 8-6 advantage heading into the sixth.

Unfortunately, Just A Poke had one more big inning in them, scoring four in the top of the sixth. The Tunes answered with another run in the bottom half but couldn’t find the tying run before time expired, falling by the narrowest of margins, 10-9.

The top of the lineup was absolutely rolling. Sam Blackburn, Matthew Bacola and Mel Blackburn combined to go a PERFECT 9-for-9, with Sam finishing 3-for-3 with two doubles, three RBI and two runs, Bacola going 3-for-3 with a double, two RBI and a run, and Mel going 3-for-3 with an RBI.

Dave Taylor, Will Desroches and Carter French each added two-hit nights, while Jordan Richardson pitched all six innings and went 2-for-3 with a run scored.

It wasn’t the result we wanted, but the offense continued to show just how deep this lineup can be. Nine runs, plenty of traffic on the bases and another game that came down to the very end.

Another complete team performance.

The TuneSquad improved to 4-6-1 on the season Tuesday night with a convincing 17-8 victory over the Dirt Devils. Even more impressive, the win came despite being without four key contributors in Sam Blackburn, Mel Blackburn, Carter French and Gord Richardson.

Everyone else stepped up in a big way.

The offense was relentless from the opening pitch, putting up five runs in each of the first two innings before never looking back. The lineup was producing quality at-bats from top to bottom all night, and the numbers tell the story. Nine of our ten players reached base safely at least three times, while all ten players either scored a run or drove one in, making this one of the most balanced offensive performances of the season.

Will Desroches continued his incredible campaign, finishing 4-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI and three runs scored. Serena Smythe matched him with a perfect 4-for-4 night of her own, adding a double, an RBI and three runs. Matthew Bacola delivered another huge performance, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, three RBI and two runs scored, while Dave Taylor, Jackson Groves, Aarron Belasco and Alyssa Richardson all turned in multi-hit games and helped keep the pressure on every inning.

With Sam Blackburn unavailable, Matthew Bacola slid over to shortstop and was outstanding defensively, making the transition look seamless while helping anchor another strong team defensive effort.

Jordan Richardson earned the win in the circle, pitching all five innings while also contributing offensively with a 3-for-4 night and two RBI.

This was exactly the kind of response the TuneSquad was looking for. Missing four regular contributors could have been an excuse, but instead it became an opportunity for everyone else to step up. The depth of this roster was on full display, and the result was another complete team victory.

The TuneSquad picked up a hard-earned 9-7 victory over Inventure on Wednesday night, improving to 3-6-1 on the season while avenging a 16-10 loss to the same team back on May 27. It wasn’t just another win. It was one of our most complete team performances of the season.

One of the biggest storylines was a revamped batting order, and it paid off. The lineup produced quality at-bats from top to bottom, with the middle and bottom of the order consistently creating offense. By the end of the night, every single TuneSquad player had recorded at least one hit, showing just how dangerous this lineup can be when everyone contributes.

Defensively, this may have been our best game of the season. Dave Taylor was lights out in left field, making play after play, while Jackson Groves turned in arguably his strongest defensive performance of the year at third base.

Offensively, Will Desroches finished 3-for-4 with a home run, double, RBI and three runs scored. Mel Blackburn stayed hot with a perfect 4-for-4 night, Dave Taylor and Sam Blackburn each added three hits, Aarron Belasco drove in three runs, Alyssa Richardson collected two hits and two runs scored, and both Kayla Lock and new full time player Sam Burtt chipped in with two-hit performances.

The turning point came after we tied the game 6-6 in the top of the sixth. We were told there were just six minutes left before a new inning couldn’t begin. The defense answered by getting the three outs in only five minutes, earning one final inning. We took advantage, scoring three runs in the seventh before closing out the 9-7 victory.

Jordan Richardson once again went the distance in the circle over all seven innings while contributing at the plate, and the TuneSquad continue to show growth every week. A complete team win from start to finish.

After a week away from the diamond, the TuneSquad are finally back in action tonight as they take on Inventure at 7:30 PM on Diamond 1 at Tree Nursery Sports Park.

Last week’s matchup against Balls N’ Dolls was unfortunately postponed due to the air quality warning, giving the TuneSquad an unexpected week off. Now, after the extra time to recharge, the team is eager to get back between the lines and continue building momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season.

Featured on tonight’s poster is superstar shortstop Sam Blackburn. Week after week, Blackburn continues to be one of the most dangerous hitters in the lineup while anchoring the TuneSquad defense up the middle. Whether it’s making highlight-reel plays at shortstop or delivering clutch hits in big moments, Sam remains one of the players opposing teams have to account for every single inning.

Tonight’s opponent, Inventure, enters with a 4-5 record and has proven they can compete with anyone in the division. The TuneSquad know this won’t be an easy matchup, but after showing flashes of both explosive offense and outstanding defense throughout the season, they’ll be looking to put together one complete performance.

With every game becoming more important in the playoff race, the TuneSquad know the opportunity is right in front of them. After an unexpected week off, it’s time to get back to work.

Another late-night showdown is on deck for the TuneSquad as they prepare for a rematch with the Stellas & Stouts tonight at 10 PM on Diamond 1 at Tree Nursery Sports Park.

These two teams have already built quite the rivalry over the past year. The TuneSquad shocked Stellas & Stouts in last season’s playoffs as the 7 seed, eliminating the heavily favoured 2 seed in one of the biggest upsets of the year. Earlier this season, however, Stellas answered back with an 18-10 win in a cold early-season matchup.

Featured on tonight’s poster is rookie catcher Kayla Lock, who continues to grow into a bigger role every single week for the TuneSquad. Whether it’s behind the plate, in clutch situations offensively, or making heads-up defensive plays, the rookie has quickly become an important piece of the lineup and continues to bring energy every time she steps onto the diamond.

The TuneSquad will once again look to lean on their deep lineup, improving chemistry, and the offensive firepower they’ve shown flashes of throughout the season. Meanwhile, Stellas & Stouts enter tonight with one of the stronger records in the division and plenty of motivation of their own.

With playoff positioning starting to become more important every week, tonight feels like another huge test for both teams.

Scared Hitless showed exactly why they sit at 8-0 on the season, capitalizing early and never really slowing down offensively. But despite the final score, the TuneSquad continued to battle inning after inning and put together plenty of bright spots against one of the strongest teams in the division.

Sam Blackburn stayed hot at the plate with a triple and 2 runs scored, while Alyssa Richardson once again delivered offensively going 2/3 with a run and RBI. Carter French continued his strong season with another extra base hit, tripling and driving in 2 runs, while Serena Smythe and Logan O’Neill each added doubles of their own.

Featured player Jackson Groves also chipped in with an RBI, and Dave Taylor crossed the plate once again while continuing to hold down the outfield defensively.

One thing that never disappeared all night was the energy. Even against the top team in the league, the TuneSquad kept the dugout loud, positive, and together right until the final out. This group continues to show that no matter the opponent or the score, they are going to compete, have fun, and keep building toward something bigger.

Tonight might be the TuneSquad’s biggest challenge of the season so far as they take on the reigning back-to-back D1 Champions, the undefeated 7-0 Scared Hitless, at 8:45 PM on Diamond 10 at the Barrie Community Sports Complex.

The TuneSquad enter tonight’s matchup coming off one of their strongest offensive performances of the season and will look to carry that momentum into a showdown against the division’s current kings. If there’s one thing this team has proven lately, it’s that when the lineup gets rolling, they can compete with anyone.

Featured on tonight’s poster is third baseman Jackson Groves, who is coming off a strong performance last game where he went 2/4 with 2 RBI. Groves continues to bring steady defense and clutch hitting to the TuneSquad lineup every single week.

Tonight’s matchup will also feature a pair of familiar faces on the opposing side, as Matt and Christy Hofing suit up for Scared Hitless after previously helping the TuneSquad during the Spring Opener tournament earlier this season.

With Matthew Bacola out of the lineup tonight, Dave Taylor will slide back into full time duties in Right Field while Carter French once again showcases his versatility by rotating through all of the male positions defensively.

It’s Canada Day, the lights will be on, and the TuneSquad have an opportunity to measure themselves against the very best.
