Something special is coming to the West Coast.
Weโre proud to announce the inaugural Pacific Youth Basketball & Wellness Summit, taking place August 5โ7, 2026 in Tofino, BC.
Presented by Legacy North Academy and hosted in partnership with Tla-o-qui-aht Development Corporation, this free summit for youth participants will bring young people together for three days of basketball development, wellness, leadership, mentorship, and community connection.
Rooted in Indigenous youth development while welcoming youth from all backgrounds to learn, grow, and participate together, our vision is to use the game of basketball to create opportunities, build confidence, strengthen communities, and support youth wellness through meaningful experiences and relationships.
More than basketball, the Summit is designed to help young people build confidence, develop leadership skills, strengthen their mindset, and create lasting connections through sport and community.
The Summit will bring together basketball coaches, mindset and wellness professionals, mentors, motivational speakers, and community leaders from across North America to invest in the next generation of youth.
While participation is open to youth from across British Columbia and beyond, the Summit is intentionally designed to serve youth from Tla-o-qui-aht, Tofino, the West Coast, and communities across Vancouver Island.
Thanks to support from Canada Basketballโs Unified Assist Program and our first community partners, planning is well underway. We are continuing to welcome community partners and sponsors who believe every young person deserves access to opportunities that build confidence, wellness, leadership, and connection.
๐ฃ Guest announcements, registration details, volunteer opportunities, and additional event information will be released soon.

One of the highlights of our STS Event 3 Training Camp was having Coach Landon spend time with our athletes.
Coach Landon is the Head Coach at Saint Martinโs University and is coming off one of the best seasons in program history, including a trip to the NCAA Tournament. Before Saint Martinโs, he spent several years leading the program at South Puget Sound Community College, a place that has become an important part of the Small Town Select journey.
Coach Landon joined our group to share his experiences and have an honest conversation with our athletes about the path ahead.
One message that resonated was his perspective on โexposure.โ Too many young athletes spend their time chasing attention instead of focusing on the things that actually move them forward. The daily habits. The consistency. The relationships. The character you build when nobody is watching.
He encouraged our athletes to enjoy the journey, fall in love with the process, and make the most of every opportunity they have with their teammates.
Coach Landon also shared stories from his own experiences as both a player and coach, reflecting on the road trips, friendships, challenges, and memories that have stayed with him long after the final buzzer.
It was a powerful reminder that while basketball can create opportunities, the relationships, experiences, and lessons learned along the way are often what leave the biggest impact.
Our athletes left with plenty to think about, and weโre grateful Coach Landon took the time to invest in our group.
Thank you, Coach.
