Be honest: how many kilometres have you put on your bike since May? 📈🚲
If you’ve been riding hard all summer, your drivetrain has swallowed a lot of dust, road grime, and sweat. A crunchy chain or skipping gears means your bike is crying out for a little love.
Fall is arguably the absolute best riding season in Ontario, but don't wait until things break! 🍁
Book your late-summer tune-up today to beat the September rush and keep your shifting crisp.

How to lock your bike so it’s actually there when you get back. 🔒🛑
Locking your bike incorrectly is the easiest way to end up walking home. As campus and city racks get busier this late August, remember the Golden Rules of bike security:
❌ Never lock just your front wheel (it takes 5 seconds to remove a quick-release wheel).
✅ Always secure the lock through the frame and the rear wheel to an immovable post.
Lock up in high-visibility, well-lit areas whenever possible.
Need an upgrade to a serious lock before school or work starts? Swing by the shop—we'll show you the best options for your daily parking spot.
Get 30% off any in-stock Kryptonite locks with the purchase of a new bike.

We love the gear that gets us through miles of pavement, gravel, or dirt. But there is one crucial piece of kit that has a strict expiration date, even if it looks perfectly fine on the outside: your helmet.
If you can't remember the last time you bought a new one, it’s probably time for an upgrade. Here is the quick breakdown of when—and why—you need to swap it out.
The Golden Rules of Helmet Replacement
• The 3-to-5 Year Window: Even if you’ve never had a single fall, helmet manufacturers recommend replacing your helmet every 3 to 5 years. Why? Sunlight (UV rays), sweat, weather, and general wear-and-tear naturally degrade the protective EPS foam and plastics over time.
• The "One and Done" Rule: Helmets are designed to sacrifice themselves to protect your brain. If you are ever in a crash or experience one big impact, that helmet's job is done. Even if you don't see a crack, the internal foam has compressed to absorb the shock and will not protect you a second time.
🔍 How to Check Your Current Helmet
Not sure how old your lid is? Flip it over and look inside. Manufacturers place a production date sticker inside the helmet shell. Find that date, add 5 years, and mark your calendar.
⚠️ A good rule of thumb: If you are questioning whether your helmet is still safe, it’s always safer to replace it. Your brain is worth the investment.
Safe riding out there! 🍁

August heat is no joke. Here is how to keep the pedals turning without overheating:
💧 Hydrate early: Don't wait until you're thirsty on the bike. Start sipping water a few hours before your ride.
⚡ Replace electrolytes: Pure water is great, but when you sweat, you lose essential salts. Dropping an electrolyte mix into your second bottle keeps cramping at bay.
⏰ Time it right: Aim for early morning roll-outs or twilight evening rides to skip the brutal midday sun.
We just restocked our shelves with CamelBak insulated bottles (they keep ice frozen for hours) and fresh electrolyte flavors from Skratch. Stay safe out there!
