If you are friends with me, you should be aware of my sentiments regarding Veterans so I am bringing it up. I am fairly confident that I already know two individuals who will assist, but I am hopeful that I will receive more responses, as this is a pressing concern.

Twenty-two Veterans succumb to their struggles daily. May I request that two friends or family members copy and repost this message?

Someone's life may depend on it. ❤️‍🩹

Call:

Veterans Crisis Line
Dial 988 then press 1
OR
Veteran's Hotline
800-273-8255

I am asking for just two individuals to respond with 'done'

PS - I'm extending this to First Responders, Fire Fighters, Correctional and Police officers.

Posted at the request of my friend.

Please speak to a friend or a professional who will listen if you feel the wall closing in...

Many unprecedented days have weighed heavily on our law enforcement family.

Behind every badge is a person. Behind every person is a family, a partner, a child, a parent, a friend—people who feel the weight long after the uniform comes off.

And alongside us stands a community that grieves with us, supports us, and mourns every loss as one of its own.

It is okay to grieve.
It is okay to hurt.
It is okay to not be okay.

But please hear this clearly:

You do not have to carry it alone.

Need help? Ask for help.

There is strength in reaching out. There is courage in speaking up. And there is no shame in being human.

For our fallen.
For those who continue to serve.
For our families.
For the communities that grieve alongside us.
And for those silently carrying more than anyone realizes.

We grieve together. We heal together. We stand together. 💙🖤

IRONWILL 360° LEADERSHIP

THE STORY.
THE REFLECTION.
THE BLUEPRINT.
THE LEGACY.

As I approach my 60th year, I've spent considerable time reflecting on the journey that brought me here: as a son, husband, father, police officer, elite athlete, coach, mentor, educator, community volunteer, leader, and a man who, at times, simply had to find a way to keep moving forward.

Over the past four decades, I have had the privilege of serving others through policing, athletics, coaching, education, leadership, mentorship, and community service. Each role, each challenge, each success, and each setback has helped shape the lessons contained within these pages.

These books were never about writing books.

They were about documenting a lifetime of lessons learned through service, leadership, competition, adversity, resilience, trauma, healing, and growth.

Finding Your Granite (2022)

A practical guide to building the character, resilience, and personal leadership foundation required to withstand life's greatest challenges.

Ironwill 360° Leadership: Moving Forward (2024)

A reflection on leadership, purpose, and the mindset required to continue moving forward when life demands more than we thought we had to give.

A Blueprint for Level 5 Unicorn Leadership (2025)

A leadership framework designed to develop extraordinary leaders and build cultures founded on trust, accountability, innovation, and service.

If there is one lesson I've learned over six decades, it is this:

***We are not defined by what happens to us. We are defined by what we choose to do next***

No matter your age.
No matter your profession.
No matter your setbacks.

You still have another chapter to write.

Keep building.
Keep learning.
Keep serving.
Keep leading.
Keep fighting.

And above all else, never stop believing in the person you are capable of becoming.

Because in the end, our greatest achievement is not what we accomplish.

It is the legacy we leave behind in others and the courage we inspire in those who follow.

COMING NEXT...

I WILL

Coming December 2026

A deeply personal journey through trauma, PTSD, resilience, healing, and the unwavering belief that no matter what life places before us, we always retain the power to choose what comes next.

I CAN. I MUST. I WILL.

The last few weeks have been heartbreaking for the policing community and for all those directly affected.
10-6. Rest in Peace, Brothers.

To our fallen brothers and sisters in uniform: your watch may have ended, but your legacy never will.
The badge you wore represented courage, sacrifice, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to serve others. Though your final call has come, your example continues to guide every officer who puts on the uniform, answers the radio, and walks toward danger while others walk away.

In times of tragedy, uncertainty, and challenge, it can be easy to lose sight of why we chose this profession. But policing has never been about perfection. It has always been about service, duty, courage, compassion, and an enduring commitment to protect those who depend on us.

To every officer currently serving, and to every young man and woman who will one day answer the call: we will carry your torch forward. We will continue to serve and protect our communities with the same honour, integrity, dedication, and courage that our fallen brothers and sisters demonstrated every day.
Your legacy will live through us.

We will remember your names. We will honour your service. We will support your families. And when the days become difficult and the burden becomes heavy, we will look to the example you left behind and remember why this profession matters.

The uniform is bigger than any one person. The mission is bigger than any one generation. And the brotherhood and sisterhood of policing will endure.

Rest easy. We've got the watch from here.

WE REMEMBER.
WE HONOUR.
WE CARRY ON.
WE WILL NEVER QUIT.

Safer Streets Moving Forward - Giving credit where credit is due.

After 35 years in policing, I learned that public safety is not partisan. Victims care about results.

That is why I welcome Canada's recent Bail and Sentencing Reform legislation.

Following the Liberal government's Bill C-75 fiasco in 2019, many police leaders, premiers, mayors, victims' advocates, and community members raised concerns about repeat violent offenders being released and reoffending.

In response, Parliament recently introduced bipartisan reforms—proof that Liberals and Conservatives can work together when public safety is at stake.

These reforms:

• Make bail more difficult for certain repeat violent offenders
• Expand reverse-onus provisions in specific cases
• Require greater consideration of violent criminal histories
• Strengthen consequences for repeated breaches of release conditions
• Enhance accountability for repeat and organized violent crime

This is a rare example of broad political agreement on public safety.

Concerns were raised.
Governments listened.
Parliament acted.

Now the focus is implementation.

Police, Crown attorneys, defence counsel, and judges each have a role to play.

Success will be measured by results:

Safer streets.
Fewer repeat violent offenders.
Greater accountability.
Stronger public confidence.

As a retired police sergeant, I believe every victim prevented and every offender held accountable is a step in the right direction.

The debate is over. The legislation is in place. Now Canadians deserve to see the results.

Public safety matters.

Well… I am proud to announce that I have finished my fourth book, I WILL.

This book is the final piece that will now stand beside Finding Your Granite, Moving Forward, and A Blueprint for Level 5 Unicorn Leadership.

It will probably be my last book for a while, which makes this one especially meaningful to me.

Over the next few weeks, my book review team will be reading a pre-production copy and writing short reviews that may be included in the final book.

If you would like to join the review team and can have your review back to me by June 15, I would be honoured to have you be part of this final stretch.

If you are interested, please send me a DM and we will make arrangements to get you a PDF review copy.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this journey. This book has been forged with purpose, reflection, resilience, and a whole lot of heart.

I CAN

I MUST

I WILL

“Visionary Leadership for a Disrupted World” — Dr. Mohammad AlQudah Reviews A Blueprint for Level 5 Unicorn Leadership

IRONWILL 360° Leadership: A Blueprint for Level 5 Unicorn Leadership with Douglas P. Pflug is an informative and inspirational leadership book which succeeds in bringing together theory and practice. Having spent many years in law enforcement, coaching, mentoring, and developing leaders at the executive level, Pflug shares a practical approach he calls “Level 5 Unicorn Leadership” — a philosophy of leadership that is humble, resilient, emotionally intelligent, upright, and service oriented. The success of this book is in its authenticity – the lessons do not exist as abstract concepts but as lived experiences with stories, examples and practical leadership lessons.

A major strength of the book is its emphasis on 'people-centred leadership' in a world that is becoming more complex and rapidly changing. But real leadership isn't about titles, power, or authority, it's about empowering others, building trust, and cultivating cultures where people can thrive, Pflug says. His lessons on emotional intelligence, adaptability, making ethical choices, building a lasting legacy are of particular interest for today's leaders in business, public service, education, athletics, and community. The practical examples (SMART goals, mission-vision-values alignment, leadership development exercises) offer the reader with tools that can be used in their own organization and team immediately.

Another feature that makes this book stand out is its focus on the concepts of resilience, authenticity, and servant leadership. The personal anecdotes and reflections of Pflug, such as dealing with adversity and leadership challenges, enrich the content and add authenticity. He does not see leadership as being “perfect”, but as a journey of life-long learning, growth and self-awareness. His prose is captivating, inspiring, and easy to read, which is especially benefit to new leaders and those who have been in the executive ranks for some time and want to improve their own leadership style.

IRONWILL 360° Leadership: A Blueprint for Level 5 Unicorn Leadership is strongly recommended for anyone who wants to be more impactful, ethical and purpose driven. Douglas P. Pflug is not just a leader who gives leadership advice, he's a blueprint for building meaningful influence, and lasting organizational impact. This book is a leadership guide and a call to action for those who wish to lead with courage, humility and vision in today's changing world.

A powerful, timely, and inspiring leadership resource that challenges readers to rise above conventional leadership and create a lasting legacy through service, integrity, and authentic human connection
