Sisterhood Softball Durham

On the sixth week of softball, our Gems came to play and spread sisterhood. Here were there brilliant moments, in the words of their captains:

Maksuda Hafeez - Amethysts
Maksuda showed up for the Bye week practice and did an amazing job in a new position! She is always open to trying new positions and takes feedback very effectively!

Zoha Syed - Emeralds
First game, batting was on point,sliding to base, and taking over 3rd earned her Gem of the Week

Raisha Sami - Garnets
Raisa showed great enthusiasm and energy cheering on her teammates! She did an amazing job getting some good out as a catcher!

Zohra Sarwari - Quartz
Zohra consistently brings positive energy to every game and always gives 100% effort. Her enthusiasm, dedication, and commitment make a difference every time she steps onto the field!!

Nadia Atcha - Rubies
Nadia stepped up when our 3rd Baseman got injured half way through the game, and she did a spectular job in getting those outs!

Sarah Tahir - Sapphires
Sarah upped her game and got multiple people out, preventing the opponent from running up the score!

Khadija Mohammad- Topaz
Khadija has continuously stepped up to pitch when we needed her most. Time and again she has delivered amazing pitches and catch outs and team topaz is grateful to have her. Whether it’s a last minute change in a game or at practice she has locked in and delivered!

Here’s what our Gems of the Week did to shine bright in the fifth game of the season, in the words of our caps:

Fatima Asmal - Amethysts
Fatima was amazing and consistenly brought herself home contributing to so many runs! She is always so positive and the team trusts and values her mentorship on and off the field!

Sadia Chughtai - Emeralds
Sadia has bought her energy and jokes to the practices, the game and in our chats! Her energy is what our sisterhood needs!

Hibah Rais - Garnets
Hibah has shown outstanding performance in field and during practice! This is exactly what sisterhood needs!

Saleha Shaikh
Saleha rocked 3B this week, especially as someone who is new to the position. She made great outs and had an amazing catch that energized the whole team. Her focus and determination were incredible to see!

Nuzla Nazeerdeen - Rubies
Nuzla held it down on 2B like a champion with some amazing double plays. She is always supporting the team and is the best co-captain!

Rawan Abd - Sapphires
Rawan’s pitching was on point! she kept striking out the batters and even assisted in getting a couple out at 1B

Khadija Mohammad- Topaz
Khadija came to pitch at last minutes notice and persevered despite the wet conditions. She delivered many strikes and continuously improved in each inning while co captaining the team and offering her continuous support and coaching. She is Team Topaz’s all-around star!
