Eye contact with a predator 🐆
There’s that special feeling when you come this close to a predator. When they stare right into your eyes or camera, for a brief moment time stands still and the world around you fades away.
Our current group of nature guide students got lucky enough and had several unforgettable encounters with some of Kwapa’s most iconic predators.

Meet our new group of nature guide students 🌿
They arrived in Camp on Friday and got started right away with their journey. Despite being here for only a few days, they already learned so much about the bush. Most of them already were „on duty“ and guided their first game drive! And they did an amazing job: sightings of PDAs, identifying birds and tracks, learning about the Okavango Delta and much more. Today they will go out for a „birdathon“ and see which group will identify the most birds 🦅

Happy World Elephant Day 🐘
These gentle giants play a major role in the Okavango Delta. They shape the landscape, regulate vegetation, form paths through the bush and create habitats for smaller animals by for example pushing over trees🌳. Therefore they are also called ecosystem engineers.

Water is life - and the rich wildlife of the Okavango Delta proves it every day. 🌿💧And a quick fyi for our bird enthusiast: in the pictures you‘ll see some yellow-billed storks, a great white pelican and an African jacana. 📷 by Lina Heiber

Can you name a more majestic bird? 🦅 Meet the Martial Eagle: Africa’s largest eagle and one of the most powerful raptors on the continent. With a wingspan stretching up to 2.6 meters and eyesight sharp enough to spot prey from over a kilometer away, this predator commands the skies.
Martial eagles aren’t picky either. Their diet ranges from monitor lizards and guinea fowl to small antelope like duiker.
Sadly, this magnificent species is now listed as endangered, with habitat loss and human persecution driving steep population declines across its range. Spotting one in the wild is really a privilege – have you ever been lucky enough to see one? 📷 by Lina Heiber
