Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA) and the Engineers Registration Board Botswana (ERB) have formalised a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening collaboration in engineering education, qualifications assurance and professional standards through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The partnership provides a framework for collaboration in quality assurance, standards alignment, information sharing, and strengthening the quality of engineering education and professional competence. It also seeks to strengthen the connection between education and professional practice, ensuring that engineering programmes remain relevant to industry needs and professional expectations.

Speaking during the engagement, BQA Acting CEO Mr Ofentse Disang highlighted the importance of closer collaboration in strengthening quality assurance and aligning institutional processes. The discussions further emphasised the need to bridge the gap between the knowledge and skills acquired through education and training and the competencies required in the workplace.

The collaboration is expected to contribute to enhanced professional competence, greater industry confidence, improved graduate employability, infrastructure development and public safety, while strengthening the relationship between education, industry and professional practice.

The two institutions will now focus on translating the MoU into practical interventions through technical engagements, information sharing, alignment of quality assurance and professional standards, and regular coordination meetings. These engagements will help sustain the partnership, monitor progress and address emerging issues.

The signing marks the enhancement of an important strategic partnership aimed at narrowing the gap between what is taught, what industry requires and what the engineering profession expects.

Through this partnership, BQA and ERB are reaffirming their commitment to quality, relevance and confidence in engineering education and professional standards in Botswana.

Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA) this week continued stakeholder engagements on the Botswana Senior Secondary Education (BSSE) Draft Qualification and the draft Quality Assurance Standard for the Registration and Accreditation of General Education Schools.

The consultation brought together stakeholders from Government, industry and other relevant institutions to provide input and ensure alignment with Botswana's national development priorities, human capital needs and the future of education and employment.

Discussions focused on the skills and competencies required of future-ready graduates, quality standards for General Education, learner development and opportunities for collaboration.

Through stakeholder engagement, BQA continues to work towards strengthening Botswana's education system and developing globally competitive human capital.

Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA) and National Arts Council of Botswana (NACB) have commenced discussions on advancing Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), qualifications development, and quality assurance within Botswana's creative and cultural industries.

The engagement explored how experienced artists and creative practitioners can benefit from nationally recognised qualifications through RPL, while also highlighting the importance of industry participation in developing qualifications that meet the needs of the creative sector.

As a way forward, the two institutions agreed to develop a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and an implementation framework to guide future collaboration.

The discussions mark an important step towards strengthening Botswana's creative industries through quality-assured qualifications, skills recognition, and lifelong learning.
