This morning at the Future Champions Summitunder the Malak Gives Back banner at the National Stadium, Cecilia Modise took the stage to share her story from the bowling lanes.

Cecilia spoke from the heart about what bowling has given her:inspiration, focus, and belief.
She reminded the young athletes that you don’t have to start big to go far. You just have to start — and stay.

Her message was simple and powerful:
- Inspiration— finding a sport that challenges your mind and your consistency
-Determination— showing up for practice
- Growth— how discipline and patience on the lanes translate into confidence, leadership, and opportunity off the lanes
- Moving up— with commitment, you can rise from club level to national representation and compete at higher levels

Cecilia’s journey proves that bowling is more than a game. It teaches precision, resilience, sportsmanship, and the power of setting a target and going for it.

She left the room with this: _“With determination, the lane ahead always opens. Keep rolling, keep learning, and keep believing.”

WASBO Supports Future Champions Summit !

Women and Sport Botswana (WASBO) is proud to join and support Malak Macheng, an inspiring and intentional female tennis player under the Botswana Tennis Association, for the Malak Gives Back initiative.

We believe in creating spaces where young girls and women in sport are empowered, heard, and equipped to thrive ,on and off the court.

Our Chairperson, Ms. Keenese Katisenge-Tizhani, will be one of the speakers at the Future Champions Summit happening this Saturday, 22nd August 2026 at the Warm Up Hall, National Stadium from 1000hrs - 1300hrs.

Let’s show up and build the next generation of champions. 💪. But before then, let us pause and celebrate and congratulate Malak and her organizers and partners for this noble and incredible initiative.

A defining moment for women in lawn bowls 🎳✨ as twenty-five participants attended the inaugural 'Women in Bowls Leadership Workshop' which was hosted alongside the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games to talk leadership, opportunity, and what’s next for women in our sport. Stronger pathways, mentoring, and a global network are on the way.

The Botswana Bowling Association was represented at the event by its President, Marea Modutlwa. As Hazel Wilson, a World Bowls Board member highlighted, the most important part is what happens next after Glasgow 🌍

Women from across the global bowls community came together in Glasgow during the 2026 Commonwealth Games to talk about leadership, opportunity and the future of women in our sport.

The World Bowls Women in Bowls Leadership Event brought together 25 leaders, administrators, athletes and advocates to share experiences, identify barriers and discuss practical ways to create more opportunities for women to lead.

As World Bowls Director Hazel Wilson said, the most important part is what happens next.

The discussion highlighted a number of priorities, including stronger leadership pathways, better connections between women across Member Nations, mentoring opportunities and the development of a global Women in Bowls network.
