The Botswana Lawn Bowls Team today wrap up their training camp in South Africa 🇿🇦 at the Midstream Centre, under the expert coaching of Dr Simon Botha 👨‍🏫.

Simon is a world renowned and highly respected Lawn Bowls coach, and we are grateful 🙏 that he shared his extensive international high-performance coaching expertise and contributed to our Commonwealth Games preparation programme.

The Midstream Centre is a large complex that includes a world-class indoor bowls facility 🏟️ which replicates the playing conditions expected in Glasgow. Team Botswana sharpened their skills on the indoor green and practiced the new Conditions of Play specially developed for the Glasgow Games. 💪

The combination of Dr. Simon Botha's elite coaching expertise and the high performance indoor environment at the Midstream Centre ensures optimal preparation for the Botswana Lawn Bowls Team ahead of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. ✨🏆

BOWLS BOTSWANA AT BNSC SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING 🇧🇼

This morning, BBA President Marea Modutlwa joined representatives of other National Sport Associations [NSAs] at a Special General Meeting of the Botswana National Sport Commission [BNSC].

Key highlights:
- BNSC CEO, Olebile Sikwane announced 📢 the process to elect NSA representatives to the BNSC Board has begun, following the dissolution of the previous board in March 2026
- The newly appointed BNSC Chairperson, Goitseone Gadifele, was introduced to NSAs. Mr. Gadifele brings extensive experience in sports and pledged to lead with a focus on solidarity, peace and excellence
- *Election process*: In line with Section 19.2 of the BNSC Act, NSAs elected 4 members to the Elections Committee today.

The Botswana Bowling Association remains committed to contributing to the transformation and development of sport in Botswana.

🕊Message of Condolence: Passing of Malcolm Ralls🕊

The Botswana Bowling Association extends its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Malcolm Ralls on his passing.

Malcolm was a well loved and respected member of the lawn bowls community. At Gaborone Bowls Club, where he was a member prior to his relocation to the UK, he was affectionately known as “Granddad” by fellow bowlers. He was truly a wonderful man, full of warmth and kindness. We shared so many laughs together, and those joyful memories will stay with us forever.

Beyond the green, Malcolm gave tirelessly to our sport. He led fundraising efforts for Gaborone Bowls Club, drove the advertising board project, and worked to secure sponsorship to keep bowls alive in Botswana. His dedication, his attention to detail, and his belief that “even a badly organised visit is better than no visit” showed how much he cared about the future of the club and the game we all love.

He was also a valued member of the Selebi Phikwe community. A true gentleman, Malcolm will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Our hearts go out to his family and friends as you gather to say goodbye to such an incredible soul. May the beautiful life he lived and the love he left behind bring you peace and solace.

Rest in peace, Granddad.
