The Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) was established in 1978 and is recognized in the National Sport and Recreation Policy by the Government as one of the key sports organisations in the country. The BNOC started participating In the Olympic Games in 1980 at the Moscow Olympics although the country had been sending athletes to the Commonwealth Games since early 1970’s.

THE ROAD TO LA28 STARTS NOW IN NAIROBI! 🇧🇼✨

While the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games might seem far away, the intense groundwork to ensure shines begins today! The Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) has officially deployed two key representatives to Nairobi, Kenya, for the vital ANOCA - NOC Games Preparation Forum, running from July 2–3, 2026.

Day 1 kicked off with an exhaustive deep dive into the LA28 Venue Masterplan, including a look at competition schedules and the athlete villages (from UCLA to Oklahoma City). Our delegates are sitting in crucial strategy sessions covering:

Logistics & Operations: Pre-Games training camps, visa accreditations, and transport coordination.

Resource Optimization: Navigating Olympic Solidarity and ANOCA subsidies to maximize funding for our elite athletes.

Synergy Building: Working hand-in-hand with continental sporting bodies and other NOCs to share best practices.

We are committed to giving our athletes world-class operational support so they can focus entirely on making the nation proud. Stay tuned as we build the ultimate playbook for LA28!

🇧🇼 PROTECTING THE INTEGRITY OF SPORT IN AFRICA!

The fight against match-fixing and competition manipulation requires a united front. The International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) have kicked off a crucial 3-day regional workshop in Harare, Zimbabwe, running from June 30 to July 2.

This high-level seminar brings together law enforcement agencies, National Olympic Committees, and sports federations from across the continent to build an ironclad defense against the manipulation of sports competitions. The focus is clear: deep national and international cooperation, sharing intelligence, and ensuring every stakeholder knows their role in protecting the clean spirit of the game.

.🇧🇼 LIVING THE OLYMPIC VALUE RIGHT HERE IN GABORONE! 🇧🇼

What an incredible morning of movement, unity, and national pride! Today, the Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) joined the rest of the world to celebrate Olympic Day 2026.

This spectacular event was proudly held in close collaboration with the Botswana Cricket Association, who graciously hosted us at their fantastic venue. From the early morning 10km run and walk to the high-energy warm-ups with the Fearless Fitness Group, Batswana showed up in numbers to prove that sport belongs to everyone. We were deeply honored to have Ms. Nancy Neo Chengeta, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sport and Arts, deliver an inspiring Key-Note Address. She emphasized the vital role of grassroots development, sports infrastructure, and the power of unity in building the future of .

BNOC President Mr. Tshepo Sitale also shared a powerful message of global solidarity from the IOC President. Beyond the races, the oval turned into a festival of games! Participants tested their skills in everything from Table Tennis, Air Badminton, and Weightlifting to beloved traditional games like Mhele, Koi, and Batho Safe.
