The Botswana Judo Federation is the National governing Body for the Olympic Sport of Judo in Botswana and is the only body in Botswana recognised by the International Judo Federation.

BJF Coaches Complete BNSC Coaches Refresher Workshop

The Botswana Judo Federation is proud to celebrate the successful participation of our coaches and officials in the three-day Re Ba Bona Ha (RBBH) and Centres of Sport Excellence (CSE) Coaches Refresher Workshop, hosted by the Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) at the University of Botswana.

Representing the Federation were:

- Victoria Leagajang – Sports Director & Selibe Phikwe RBBH Coach
- Mr Tshepo Paledi – Development Director
- Thato Lebang – Coach
- Neo Kapeko – Coach
- Austin Moloi – Coach
- Tiroyaone Kapeko – Coach

Throughout the workshop, participants enhanced their knowledge in key areas including:
✅ Coaching ethics and athlete management
✅ Sport science in athlete development
✅ Injury prevention and load management
✅ Programme improvement for RBBH and CSE
✅ First aid and emergency response in sport

These valuable lessons will strengthen the quality of coaching within Botswana Judo and contribute to the holistic development, performance and welfare of our athletes.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) for investing in the continuous professional development of coaches through initiatives such as this. Such programmes are instrumental in building coaching capacity, promoting athlete welfare, and advancing high-performance sport in Botswana.

The University of Botswana proudly departs for Port Elizabeth, South Africa, to participate in the South African Open. This journey represents more than competition; it reflects dedication, discipline, hard work, and the pursuit of excellence. As we take this important step, we carry with us the pride of our institution and the spirit of representing Botswana with honor and distinction.

The Botswana Judo Federation (BJF) proudly announces that today the Senior athletes take to the mat at the Johannesburg African Open 2026 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Representing Botswana in the Senior category today are:

• Thatayaone Gaosekelwe –73kg
• Talent Peloyame –73kg
• Pine Moreosele –48kg
• Jef David –60kg

Following months of preparation, discipline, and hard work, the athletes are ready to compete against some of Africa’s finest judokas while proudly carrying the Botswana flag on the international stage.

We wish the team the very best as they step onto the mat and give their all.

Day 1 of the Johannesburg African Open is in the books, and our juniors left it all on the mat! 🥋🇧🇼

A massive effort from our fighters today against tough continental competition. Pine Moreosele (-48 kg) went out on 3rd place after a hard-fought day, while Jef David (-60 kg) battled all the way to the bronze final, finishing in a very respectable 5th place.

Huge learning experiences today for these rising stars. We are incredibly proud of your grit and determination 💪🏿onto the next! 💪🔥
