Experience meets a new challenge. After representing Bhutan in recurve archery, Pema Rigsel is embracing a new chapter as he transitions to compound archery with determination and purpose.

Pema Rigsel is no stranger to competition. Having represented Bhutan as a recurve archer on the international stage, including at the Paralympic level, Pema has now taken on a new and challenging path — transitioning to compound archery. Switching disciplines mid-career is never easy; it demands new techniques, new equipment familiarity, and a rebuilding of muscle memory earned over years of recurve practice.

Currently deep in training, Pema is putting in the hours to master the compound bow, and the BPC has full confidence that this transition will open a stronger, more accomplished chapter in his career. His experience, discipline, and hunger to improve make him one to watch as he works toward outperforming his earlier achievements in this new format.

The Bhutan Paralympic Committee wishes Pema Rigsel continued success as he embraces this new chapter in his career. With dedication and perseverance, we look forward to seeing him achieve even greater milestones in compound archery.

Every athlete's journey begins with a single step. For Tika Ram Ghalley, that journey has already taken him onto the international stage, where each competition has strengthened his confidence and determination to represent Bhutan with pride.

Tika Ram Ghalley, one of our dedicated boys' recurve archers, officially registered as a para-archer on January 1, 2024, and has been training rigorously ever since. In that time, he has represented Bhutan at two competitions, gaining valuable international exposure and experience with every outing.

The first was a landmark moment: the 2025 Asian Para-Archery Championship in Beijing, his international debut. He did not return with a medal, but he returned with something just as valuable — belief in what he can achieve. More recently, he competed at the Bhutan Grand Prix, where he was honored with a special recognition award as the tournament's only para-archer, competing alongside more than 40 archers from Bhutan and India.

Rather than resting on this early experience, Tika remains sharply focused on what lies ahead. His consistency in training and his commitment to steady, incremental growth reflect the kind of patient dedication that builds champions. The BPC is proud of his progress so far and excited for the competitions still to come.

They were once told to expect less. Today, they graduated from university and stepped into new careers.

From representing Bhutan on the international Paralympic stage to earning Bachelor's degrees in Sports and Health Science from the Royal Thimphu College, Chimi Dema and Sapuna S***a have shown that disability is never a barrier to excellence.

Their journey is a powerful reminder of what becomes possible when determination meets opportunity.
