Most people don’t know this, but Pura Fibra now has a kimono factory in Brazil 🇧🇷

A few days ago, a customer asked if there was a kid here he could help with $100. Yesterday, I met a young athlete walking 8 km a day to get to jiu-jitsu. Today, thanks to that donation, he has a bike 🚲

The customer was so thankful to be able to help that I thought I’d share in case others feel the same. If anyone out there ever wants to do something similar, I’d be happy to make sure any contribution—of any size—goes to a young athlete who needs it. No pressure at all. A little goes a long way here 🙏

We have known Rafael Rosendo for a long time—as a customer, fellow Alliance school owner, and even a training partner. However, we never knew just how incredible his story was. We are grateful that he shared it with us and honored to be able to pass it on to the Alliance community.

If you’re familiar with the legendary TT Academy from the early 2000s—founded by Fernando Tererê and Eduardo Telles—you’ll love knowing that Rafa trained there. He shared the mats with icons like Lucas Lepri, Cobrinha, Serginho, and André Galvão, just to name a few of the legendary athletes who honed their craft in that historic gym. Rafa’s journey is one of a young athlete leaving his hometown to train at one of the most epic academies in our sport’s history.

If you haven’t heard Tererê’s story or the history of TT Academy, we highly encourage you to look it up—it’s an essential part of Jiu-Jitsu’s past.

At the same time, we’ve been reading “Bulletproof”, the autobiography of Fábio Gurgel. Even for those of us who are deeply familiar with Fábio’s life and career, the book is filled with incredible stories from the foundational era of the sport. It truly highlights how connected Fábio was to the pulse of Jiu-Jitsu as it was evolving.

Talking to Rafa was an amazing experience, and it made us appreciate how many Alliance team members have lived through historic moments in Jiu-Jitsu—Nei Seda is just one more example. These stories are what make our team so special, and we’re honored to share them.

Damien Hirtz, owner of Alliance Minnesota—one announces that Felipe Bueno “Pé de Pão” will be leading the squad as head coach.

Felipe is a core competitor and coach from Alliance headquarters in São Paulo and one of the nicest guys you will find. Super happy for Felipe and the Alliance MN team.
