🇬🇧 Deep down, it’s often when doubt starts creeping in that the adventure gets interesting.

You set off with good legs, a spotless bike, and that little bit of arrogance that makes you think everything is under control. Then a false flat drags on, the forest closes in, your body starts complaining about that aero position you can no longer pretend to enjoy, and one question starts looping in your head: Am I really going to make it to the end?

Good news: if you’re asking yourself that, you’re probably exactly where we wanted you to be.

You decide how long you want to question your love for adventure.

🇫🇷 Au fond, c’est souvent quand le doute s’installe que l’aventure devient intéressante.

Tu pars avec de bonnes jambes, un vélo nickel et cette petite arrogance qui te fait croire que tout est sous contrôle. Puis un faux-plat s’éternise, la forêt se referme, tu commences à sentir les courbatures de la position aero que tu n’assumes plus, et une question commence à tourner dans ta tête : Est-ce que je vais vraiment aller au bout ?

Bonne nouvelle : si tu te poses la question, tu es probablement exactement là où on voulait t’emmener.

À toi de choisir combien de temps tu veux remettre en question ton amour pour l’aventure.

🇬🇧 There are days when gravel starts looking suspiciously like agricultural work.

Across a freshly mown line goes your silhouette, right through the tall grass. And only after playing tightrope walker do you finally check your GPS to make sure the track actually went that way.

We never promise the most obvious path. But usually, that’s exactly where things start getting interesting. And between us, every now and then… damn, it feels good. 😌

That’s the Hardennes.

🇫🇷 Il y a des jours où le gravel ressemble étrangement à une activité agricole.

A travers une ligne fraîchement fauchée passe ta silhouette au milieu des hautes herbes. Ce n’est qu’après avoir joué le funambule que tu vérifieras sur ton GPS si la trace passait bien par là.

On ne promet jamais le chemin le plus évident.
Mais généralement, c’est justement là que ça devient intéressant. Et entre nous, de temps en temps, qu’est-ce que ça fait du bien 😌.

C’est ça, les Hardennes.

🇬🇧 Getting lost is part of the plan 🫣.

Sometimes you disappear alone between two hedges, wondering whether that tiny line on your GPS was ever really meant to be a trail.

Sometimes you’re riding in a group, equally lost, while everyone pretends that surely someone knows where you’re going.
Alone or with mates, it doesn’t really matter — the forest always spits you back out eventually.

🇫🇷 Se perdre fait partie du plan 🫣.

Parfois tu disparais seul entre deux haies en te demandant si cette minuscule ligne sur ton GPS était vraiment censée être un chemin.

Parfois vous êtes en groupes, tout aussi paumés, mais chacun fait semblant qu’il y en a forcément un qui sait où vous allez.

Seul ou avec les copains, peu importe, la forêt finit toujours par vous recracher.

🇬🇧 Dust.
It’s like holiday sand: you never invited it, but it comes home with you anyway, and at the end of the season you still find traces of the Hardennes GT in your crankset.

It settles in the cables, in the lungs, in that fold of your elbow you didn’t know existed until it turned brown. Your teeth grind like a first-generation GRX.

At the finish, you shower, and the water running off you is the colour of proper Condroz mud. You scrub, you rinse. Nothing works. It will stick to you forever.

The dust stays. And it’s already calling you for 2027 🙈.

🇫🇷 La poussière.
C’est comme le sable des vacances : tu ne l’as invitée à rien, mais elle rentre avec toi, et à la fin de la saison tu retrouves encore des vestiges de l’Hardennes GT dans ton pédalier.

Elle se loge dans les câbles, dans les poumons, dans ce pli du coude dont tu ignorais l’existence jusqu’à ce qu’il devienne dirty. Tes dents crissent comme un vieux GRX de première génération.

À l’arrivée, tu te douches, et l’eau qui coule a la couleur d’une boue condruzienne comme il faut. Tu frottes, tu rinces. Mais rien n’y fait, elle te collera à jamais.

La poussière, elle, reste. Et elle t’appelle déjà pour 2027 🙈.

🇬🇧 Sometimes, it’s the gesture that matters. More often than not. The attention to detail. The willingness to slow down.

The time to study the outlines of an arena that promises surprises.

The time to fix a machine that doesn’t always want to cooperate.

The time for the past to rise again, before you even realise it.

That is Hardennes.

🇫🇷 Parfois, c’est le geste qui compte. Souvent, même. Le sens du détail, le souci de prendre le temps.

Le temps d’observer les contours d’une arène qui suggère des surprises.

Le temps de rafistoler une machine qui ne veut pas toujours.

Le temps du passé qui resurgit et dont on n’est plus conscient.

It’s a palette you can only cross while keeping your balance. And we’ll be back for more, that’s for sure.

HGT 700🏅LUTZ WELLENSIEK

🇬🇧 On Friday the 22nd at 8 AM, 40 adventurers rolled out from Saint-Hubert in search of the Ardennes Grail.

Very quickly, two men took control: Guillaume de Spoelberch and Pieter Snoeck flew far ahead while behind them, the pack was already breaking apart. Mother Nature had started her work, collecting riders one spoonful at a time.
On the long climb towards the High Fens, Guillaume drove the point home. Steady. Strong. The kind of presence that slowly starts making others doubt themselves.

The first twist came at CP1 in Stavelot: Pieter Snoeck, who had been putting Guillaume under pressure, was forced to scratch. He already knew the Hardennes. Maybe a little too well.
Then came the first night. And with it, the first demons.

Behind, the chasers gradually closed in on the race leader, who would eventually put a foot down too.
The Ardennes have their own rules. You don’t negotiate with 700 kilometers.

A second act then opened around an unlikely trio: Lutz Wellensiek, Raf Frans, and Bram Sins.
The three exchanged the lead all the way to CP2, putting on a magnificent battle.

Eventually, Lutz was the first to leave. And nobody saw him again. He closed the loop in 44h09.
Behind him, Raf and Bram arrived hand in hand, sharing second place after 46h45 of effort.

Then, little by little, everyone wrote their own story. Some marked the territory with a finish. Others with a battle lost.
Those who never came back did not lack courage.
Sometimes, the forest simply keeps what it takes.

The Hardennes GT imposes a long and brutal negotiation between every soul and the territory itself.
And here, Mother Nature always has the final word.

🌲 HGT No4 700 IS UNDERWAY 🔥 !

This morning at 8 AM sharp, the explorers clipped in beneath the arch and rolled into the Ardennes for the full 700 km crossing.

Nervous smiles at the start line. Fresh legs. Clear skies above the forests.

But today is already one of the most formidable days of the entire adventure.

Long hours in the saddle.
Relentless gravel sectors.
The first real fatigue settling into the legs while the Ardennes slowly tighten their grip.

Ahead of them:
endless spruce corridors, hidden valleys, forgotten villages, war remnants and a whole lot of uncertainty.

👉 First target: CP1.
From there, the real wilderness begins.

Track their dots, cheer them on, and stay tuned — the 300 km riders launch tomorrow morning.

Who will tame the green labyrinth?
The Ardennes already know. 🌲

🇬🇧 Tomorrow, the Hardennes GT No4 enters the stage.

With the first check-in of this Hardennes Week begins the gathering of the 700 KM Ultra explorers.

Over the coming days, nearly 140 riders representing 10 nations will set off on an adventure traced through the heart of the most forested massif in Europe.

Across the 4 distances imagined through the Ardennes kingdom, Mother Nature will reveal herself as both generous and merciless. She will open the way, then close it again. She will offer beauty, then the ordeal.

Some will disappear for 700 km into the deepest folds of the Ardennes. Others will discover, for the very first time, what it truly means to go far.

But all will face the same land:
raw, deep, magnificent, unpredictable.

The starting lists are now sealed.
All that remains is to enter the forest.

Now… let the spectacle begin.
