𝗖é𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁 𝗲𝘁 𝗗𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸é é𝗹𝘂𝘀 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗲𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗲𝘁 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗲𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗲 𝗹'𝗮𝗻𝗻é𝗲

Vendredi soir, au Centre culturel de Hasselt, s'est déroulée la dixième édition du Gala du Joueur et de la Joueuse de l'année. Dree Riské a conservé son titre de Joueur de l'année, tandis que Céline Clermont a été élue Joueuse de l'année.

Plus de 200 personnes se sont rendues à ce gala organisé pour l’occasion en début de saison. Pierre Deprez et Eric Dupain ont guidé les invités tout au long d’un show agrémenté de nombreuses images de handball et de reportages avec Bart Lenders, Tom Robyns et Edith Cochici.

Après une rétrospective des performances des jeunes équipes nationales au début de la saison dernière, les premiers trophées ont été remis par Tine Jans, échevine chargée des sports de la ville de Hasselt. Jens Boden (HC Schoten) et Sofie Geutjens (Sezoens Achilles Bocholt) ont été élus respectivement Joueur et Joueuse de l’année de la Ligue. Chez les entraîneurs masculins, Korneel Douven (Sporting Pelt) s’est succédé à lui-même. Pour la deuxième année consécutive, il a mené son équipe au titre national. Tom Simons (HB Sint-Truiden) a été le lauréat chez les équipes féminines. Simons a remporté la Coupe de Belgique, mais a manqué le titre national.

Kobe Jansen et Mathys Desloovere ont été élus « duo d'arbitres prometteurs de l'année », tandis que le duo Cappa – Schmitz a été élu « duo d'arbitres de l'année ». Paule Portier (HC Sprimont) s'est imposée face à Emma Antonissen, gardienne des Black Arrows, dans la course au titre de gardienne de l'année. Le gardien des Red Wolves, Arthur Vanhove (Hubo Handbal), a été élu « Gardien de l'année » pour la deuxième fois de sa carrière. Vanhove a devancé Clem Leroy (Sezoens Achilles Bocholt), qui a remporté le prix de la presse chez les hommes. Mirthe Boiten (Hubo Handbal) s'est vu décerner le prix de la presse chez les femmes par le jury de la presse.

Entre-temps, les performances des Black Arrows et des Red Wolves ont été mises à l’honneur et le président national, Jean-François Hannosset, a pu venir
parler du Championnat d’Europe 2030. Geraldo Di Ruggiero (Sporting Handball Club Mont-sur-Marchienne) s’est vu décerner le prix « Carrière » par la LFH. Du côté flamand, cet honneur est revenu à Jeroen De Beule (Sezoens Achilles Bocholt).

La soirée s'est terminée par la remise des prix principaux. Chez les hommes, Dree Riské a conservé son titre. La saison dernière, le jeune international anversois avait quitté Sasja pour rejoindre Pelt, avec lequel il a remporté le titre de champion national. À la fin de la saison, Riské a rejoint le championnat français, à l'Angers SCO. Riskee a remporté le premier tour de vote, tandis que le deuxième a été largement dominé par Sébastien Danesi (Hubo Handbal), qui a terminé deuxième avec quatre points de re**rd au classement final. La troisième place est revenue à Tommie Falke.

Chez les femmes, le titre a été décerné à Céline Clermont (HC Sprimont), qui a remporté le premier tour de vote avec une large avance. Sara Marteleur a quant à elle remporté le deuxième tour de vote avec une large avance, mais n’a pas réussi à combler l’écart avec Clermont ; celle-ci a donc été élue Joueuse de l’année de la saison 2025-2026 à l’issue des deux tours de vote. Sara Marteleur (Handbal Sint-Truiden) a terminé deuxième avec 65 points. La troisième place est revenue à Estelle Ghijsens (Handbal Sint-Truiden).

Au cours du gala, des diplômes « étoiles » ont également été remis aux clubs méritant pour leur travail auprès des jeunes. Dendermonde, Lokeren, Schoten et Aarschot ont reçu un diplôme à trois étoiles. Hubo Handbal, Achilles Bocholt et Lummen ont reçu un diplôme à quatre étoiles, tandis qu’Uilenspiegel, DB Gand, Saint-Trond et Bilzen ont remporté un diplôme à cinq étoiles.

In Cultuurcentrum Hasselt werden vrijdagavond de tiende editie van het Gala van de Speler en Speelster van het jaar verkozen. Dree Riske volgde zichzelf op als Speler van het Jaar terwijl Céline Clermont verkozen werd tot Speelster van het jaar.

What a way to finish the EHF Men's 18 Championship II! 🇧🇪

After a fantastic tournament full of determination, fighting spirit and ONE TEAM mentality, the Young Young Red Wolves secured the bronze medal with a convincing 37–32 victory over Kosovo.

⭐ And what a performance by Thiebe Fiers! With an incredible 18 goals, he was deservedly named 𝗠𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵.

But the individual honours don't stop there...

Yesterday, the Young Young Red Wolves faced hosts Georgia, who were still unbeaten in the tournament. The match was essentially a dream final.

Belgium needed a victory by at least four goals to reach the final. Due to the tournament regulations, the ranking is determined by the goal difference in the matches between the teams concerned, rather than the overall goal difference.

The Young Young Red Wolves took the court with incredible determination against a Georgian side that was considerably bigger and heavier. Within the first 10 minutes, Belgium had already received two 2-minute suspensions. Despite the difficult circumstances, the team fought its way to a 16–14 lead at half-time.

The second half was another incredible battle. Belgium's maximum lead reached six goals, but Georgia managed to fight its way back. When the final whistle sounded, the scoreboard showed a fantastic 33–30 victory for Belgium. 🔥

Unfortunately, one goal short of what was needed to reach the final.

Despite the enormous disappointment, the coaching staff could only be incredibly proud of the fight, determination and TEAM spirit shown by the players both on the court and from the bench. A fantastic victory – even if the result wasn't enough to secure the final.

Following yesterday's defeat, today was a well-deserved rest day for the 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗪𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀.

After a relaxed morning, the team returned to the court for an afternoon training session before focusing on recovery with ice baths, cold showers and the sauna to be fully ready for the next challenge.

Meanwhile, Belgium's 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 award winners – Erno De Novellis, Patrick Desnouck, Romain Van Simaeys and Thiebe Fiers – took part in the Respect Your Talent programme. This time, ambassador Carlos Prieto shared his experiences as a professional player and introduced the players to the opportunities offered by the Respect Your Talent app.
