Imagine a world where the road beneath your feet helps save the planet. Too good to be true? Not at all. Asphalt is stepping up in the sustainability game, and the results are worth a standing ovation.
👷♀️ Recyclable? 100%. Asphalt is the most recycled construction material in the world. Roads are reused and recycled with less waste and fewer emissions. That’s what we call a circular economy in motion.
⚡ Energy efficient? Absolutely. Asphalt pavements are fast to construct and require less energy over their life cycle compared to other materials. That means fewer traffic jams, lower fuel consumption, and happier commuters.
🌡️ Climate smart? You bet. Thanks to technologies like warm mix asphalt, we can produce and lay asphalt at lower temperatures, reducing greenhouse gas emissions without compromising performance. It’s like giving the planet a breath of fresh air.
🧠 So next time you’re walking or driving, remember: sustainability isn’t just solar panels and wind turbines. Sometimes, it’s right under your wheels.

Three inspiring days. Hundreds of professionals. Countless conversations.
The E&E Event 2026 in Vienna brought together road authorities, researchers, contractors, industry leaders and policymakers from across Europe and beyond to exchange ideas, share expertise and discuss the future of road construction.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, contributed to the programme and helped make the event such a success.
And now, it's time to look ahead.
Save the date: 10–12 May 2028 as the E&E Congress heads to Madrid, Spain. We look forward to welcoming the international road community once again for three days of knowledge sharing, networking and innovation.
See you in Madrid!
Three days. Hundreds of professionals. Countless conversations.
Last week in Vienna, hundreds of professionals from across Europe and beyond gathered for the EAPA Warm Mix Asphalt Workshop and E&E Event 2026.
Over three days, the discussions focused on some of the most important topics facing our industry today: decarbonisation, circularity, health and safety, emissions, innovation, future materials and the roads of tomorrow.
Beyond the technical sessions, the week was also about meeting people, sharing experiences and having the conversations that help move our industry forward.
Thank you to everyone who contributed as a speaker, sponsor, exhibitor or participant.
See you at the next E&E Congress 2028 in Madrid.
What will shape the roads of the future?
That question was at the centre of today's discussions at the E&E Event 2026.
From the outlook for European bitumen supply and demand to the potential of biobased materials, speakers explored how our industry is preparing for the decades ahead. The session also highlighted the important role of public leadership in the sustainability transition and examined the wider trends influencing road construction and mobility across Europe.
While the future may bring new challenges, today's discussions demonstrated that innovation, long-term thinking and collaboration remain key drivers of progress.
This morning's discussions highlighted how closely health, safety and emissions management are connected.
This E&E Event 2026 session brought together perspectives on managing emissions on paving sites, understanding emissions from asphalt pavements and addressing odour management at asphalt plants.
A common theme throughout the discussions was the importance of combining research, practical experience and industry action to support safer and more sustainable operations across the asphalt value chain.
