Carla Parcianello is a Brussels-based dance artist and teacher specializing in Whacking/Punking. She offers her own perspective on the style while staying rooted in its foundations and history.

“Originally known as Punking, the style emerged in 1970s Los Angeles, where a community of gay men gathered in clubs like Gino’s to dance and connect. Born in response to marginalization, Punking is characterized by theatricality and posing inspired by 1920s silent films, comic strips, and cartoons like Bugs Bunny.”

David Zambrano personally invites artists who he has met in his career and wants to support their continuous research and innovation in dance, performance, and improvisation. The only condition is to present something to the public at the end of the week.

On Thursdays, Tictac invites the guest artists leading workshops to present their work on stage, for the general public and the participants. It’s often a stage improvisation, and sometimes performing together!

After 7 years of Tictac, we’re going deeper.

We believe in methodologies that go beyond what we know, and artists who are researching the full understanding of the body expression.

Tictac’s intensives are for those whose bodies are asking for more — more focus, more detail, more depth. Even more than the one-week workshops, these are research transformative processes, where the group itself becomes the material to be taken further. .

A week of full day only Passing Through.

- 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁-𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 — a one-week deeper dive into Passing Through exclusively for dancers who have already experienced a Flying Low & Passing Through 4 or 5 week intensive with David Zambrano — at in Brussels.

« This week offers an opportunity to recreate a new group constellation with others who have had a similar experience. For each participant it can be an update, refreshment, a coming together, a further development, a (re-)learning process. »

This workshop is open to alumni of David’s intensives only — including the 4 or 5-week FL&PT at Tictac, Ex-In intensives (Germany, Spain, Greece, Italy), the Costa Rica 50-day (2010), the 60-day improvisation at Tictac (2019), and the Chiang Mai intensives (2016–2017). David Zambrano has been a defining figure in international contemporary dance for over 40 years. Born in Venezuela, he spent 15 years in New York before co-founding Tictac Art Centre in Brussels in 2018 with Mat Voorter. He has taught in more than 75 countries and performed at hundreds of venues worldwide. Passing Through, his leaderless group composition practice, has shaped generations of improvisers across the globe.
