Team Relay, explained.
4 riders. 4 laps. 1 team.
One rider races at a time. Each rider completes one lap, then hands the race over to the next teammate. The clock never stops.
That’s what makes Team Relay so exciting. Every lap can completely change the race. A strong ride can erase a gap, one mistake can shake up the order, and every exchange gives a team another chance to attack.
Who gets the team off to the perfect start? Who closes the gap? Who holds the position under pressure? And who gets the final lap and brings it home?
Whether you’ve raced Team Relay before or you’re thinking about giving it a try for the first time, Saturday is your chance to race for a Provincial Championship as a team.
At Woodnewton: Team Relay Provincial Championships run Saturday, September 12, with team submissions due Friday evening.
Details and times subject to the official technical guide.

Our Race Team and Devo athletes have been putting in some serious miles over the past two weeks, taking on back-to-back Canada Cup racing in Dieppe, New Brunswick and Brookvale, PEI. 🇨🇦
Dieppe brought hot, dry and dusty conditions, with a fast, flowy course that made for some seriously fun racing. Then it was on to Brookvale, where the course couldn’t have been more different - chunky, technical, hilly and packed with big features that challenged riders at every turn.
Across both weekends, our athletes continued to rack up strong results while gaining valuable experience on terrain very different from what we see at home.
🔥 Top 10 results from the two weekends (XCC, XCO):
Anna Christensen - Dieppe 4th,🥈| Brookvale🥈🥈
Nicole Haviland - Dieppe 5th,🥉| Brookvale🥉, 4th
Alexa Haviland - Dieppe 🥇🥇
Clare Hauber - Dieppe🥈,🥈| Brookvale 🥈🥈
Julia Meyer - Dieppe 10th, 10th | Brookvale 5th, 7th
Dylan Kerr - Dieppe 10th, 9th | Brookvale 🥉, 5th
Alex McCabe - Brookvale 8th, 9th
We’re incredibly proud of everyone who lined up in Dieppe and Brookvale - and especially proud of the way they continue to embrace new courses, new challenges and everything that comes with racing across the country.

XCC, explained.
XCC is cross-country short track: a fast, short-form mountain bike race. Multiple laps of a compact course, typically around 20–25 minutes, everyone starting together — the sprint version of cross-country.
And it’s built for watching. Short laps bring the riders past you again and again, passing and lead changes can happen every lap, and small mistakes can change the whole race. First across the finish line wins.
XCC opens championship weekend Friday evening at Woodnewton.

While some of our athletes were racing at the Ontario Summer Games last weekend, two young Shredders took on the Cannondale Grand River Gravel ON Series, put on by Substance Projects.
Callum Jenkins put together a fantastic ride to finish 3rd in the 50km Male Under 20 Open category, while Julian Porter tackled an impressive challenge - lining up in the 110km Male 20-34 Open race.
We’re incredibly proud to see our young athletes embracing new disciplines, stepping outside their comfort zones racing against much older and more experience competitors, and discovering just how much they’re capable of. Whether it’s mountain biking, gravel, road, or cyclocross, every experience helps shape them into stronger, more well-rounded cyclists.
Congratulations, Callum and Julian! 👏💙

This past weekend, five Shredders athletes competed at the 2026 Ontario Summer Games in Waterloo - one of Ontario’s premier multi-sport events, bringing together thousands of the province’s top young athletes across 18 sports.
It was an incredible opportunity to compete in a championship environment alongside some of Ontario’s best. The cycling competition packed four disciplines into two days of racing:
⛰️ Hill Climb
🏁 Circuit Race
⏱️ Individual Time Trial (TT)
🚴 Road Race (RR)
Each event challenged riders in a different way, requiring everything from explosive power and endurance to tactical decision-making and bike handling. Representing Durham Shredders were: William Caners, Nicole Haviland, Sam Chora, Charlotte Caners, Anna Christensen.
Top 5 Performances (Hill Climb, Circuit, TT, RR):
Nicole Haviland (U16F): 4th, 4th, 2nd, 2nd
Sam Chora (U18M): 5th, 3rd, 6th (RR)

Every great rider starts with the fundamentals.
Week 1 of Session 3 is in the books, and Week 2 is underway! Our Learn to Ride riders kicked things off with bike checks, rider assessments, and straight-line skills, while our Learn to Race athletes focused on one of the most important parts of any race- the start.
Every week builds on the last, helping riders gain confidence, develop new skills, and have fun along the way. We can’t wait to see what this week’s session brings! 👏
