This is Vince Rogato
He began his martial arts journey in late 2009. As a promising athlete in his youth, Vince played senior-level soccer during his mid-teens until a severe ACL injury permanently sidelined him from the pitch. Seeking to recapture the discipline, intense focus, and competitive drive of high-level sport, he turned to a childhood passion inspired by years of watching martial arts films.
He initially trained in Jeet Kune Do and Filipino Kali before discovering Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the same academy. Captivated by BJJ’s intricate details and technical depth, Vince quickly realised that consistency and determination yielded clear progress. He entered his first competition just six months later.
While his early years in Jiu-Jitsu were balanced alongside other martial arts disciplines, Vince committed to the sport full-time upon reaching his blue belt. Training under the guidance of , he competed extensively on both national and international stages, culminating in his promotion to black belt in 2022.
Today, Vince coaches and trains out of under coach . His passion for the gentle art is stronger than ever. He remains deeply grateful for the ongoing opportunities to compete globally, share his technical knowledge with the next generation, and connect with the community built through Jiu-Jitsu.
Presently he is a 1st degree black belt.

This is Bogdan Nikitin
Born in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine, Bogdan emigrated to NYC with his family at age 8. Years later, after watching UFC and listening to a few MMA podcasts, out of curiosity, he took his first BJJ trial class in June 2021 - right after the COVID pandemic - at 28 years old, he started training .studio in Astoria, NY under head professor . Hesitant at first, he signed up for just a month to see how it would go. After his first week, he was hooked.
Along the way, he adopted a simple philosophy: always show up for class, no matter how tired, unmotivated, or unprepared he felt on a given day. Training 4-6 days a week under instructors , Santiago Furlong, and (who has since gone on to open his own school, ), two classes (gi and no-gi) a day, built a consistency that took him to blue belt in 1 year and purple in 2.5 years.
Early in his blue belt, Bogdan realized his stand-up game needed work, so he started Judo under . Two years later, he began training as well, since it was closer to home, and still visits both gyms today. Judo fundamentally changed his game, shifting him from playing guard to hunting takedowns and applying top pressure. At one point during his time as a blue belt, he was ranked in the top 10 of the no-gi IBJJF ultra-heavyweight bracket.
Jiu-Jitsu and Judo became more than a workout for him.
Outside the gym, Bogdan has an actuarial background and works in the life and retirement space. The pressure he learned to sit with on the mats carried directly into his career, helping him push through his actuarial exams while working a full time job. The biggest lesson jiu-jitsu has taught him is to differentiate between pressure and submission — a mindset that became his motto: "It's just pressure, and we don't tap to pressure."
Now 33, Bogdan is happily married to oleksandra.nikitin who supports his aspirations every step of the way. He continues to train at Gentle Arts Studio as a hobbyist
Presently he is a purple belt

This is Pili Legasa
She found jiu jitsu during a difficult period in her life.
After being fired from her job and coming out of a toxic relationship, she felt lost and unsure about what direction her life was taking. Then a friend, and now her personal coach introduced her to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Coming from a background in Biotechnology, Biology and food innovation, jiu jitsu initially became a way to disconnect and put her energy into something new.
Not long after, Pili started creating videos and covering competitions, beginning with . Being behind the camera introduced her to a completely different side of the jiu-jitsu community and eventually led her to work with other brands & tournaments such as and , traveling to competitions, camps and events.
Then her perspective on life changed completely.
After losing her father and later the family home she had always known, Pili realized how quickly life can change and how easy it is to keep waiting for the “right moment” to do the things we really want to do.
Since then, she has tried to say yes more often: to traveling, competing, new opportunities and experiences outside her comfort zone.
Today, Pili experiences jiu jitsu from both sides sometimes as media, sometimes as the competitor stepping onto the mats herself.
She is training under also training at 10th planet barcelona and still discovering how far she wants to take her own competitive journey.
For Pili, jiu jitsu didn’t save her life. It became part of the life she decided she no longer wanted to postpone.
She is currently supported by and , two projects she also works closely with through content creation and story telling within the jiu jitsu community.

This is Renzo Gracie
Long before Renzo Gracie became one of the most recognizable names in Jiu-Jitsu, before the legendary fights, and generations of students who would carry his lineage around the world, he was a kid growing up in Rio de Janeiro surrounded by Jiu-Jitsu.
Born into the Gracie family, Renzo learned early that Jiu-Jitsu was much more than fighting. One of his greatest influences was his uncle, Rolls Gracie—a man Renzo followed, admired and learned from both on and off the mats. When Rolls tragically died in a hang-gliding accident while Renzo was only 15, he lost not only a teacher, but one of his greatest role models.
Renzo continued forward.
His journey took him through Jiu-Jitsu, Vale Tudo and some of the biggest stages of early MMA. He fought legends, won championships, suffered losses and never built his reputation by protecting a record. Renzo's mentality was simple: test yourself, learn and come back.
Then came New York.
Leaving Brazil in the 1990s, Renzo began building an academy while supporting his family and continuing his own fighting career. The beginning wasn't glamorous. He taught, trained and fought while slowly creating something much bigger than a gym.
That academy became a home to generations of practitioners and produced some of the most influential names in Jiu-Jitsu and MMA, including , and .
Through victories and defeats, personal loss, family, fatherhood, business and decades on the mats, Renzo kept moving forward.
Today, the Renzo Gracie name can be found on academies around the world—but his real legacy isn't the name on the door.
It's the people.
The students who became champions. The students who became teachers. And the countless people who walked onto his mats and carried a piece of what they learned into their own lives.
A fighter can build a record.
A teacher builds a lineage.
Renzo Gracie built a legacy.
