Captain Jack Sparrow came asking about DSD. 😅😂🤣

Jack Sparrow: (Squinting intently at the PADI DSD slate in your hand, swaying slightly) Now... let us clarify. You mean to tell me we are going to the depths of Davy Jones' locker, but without the curse of the Black Pearl? And what is this... "DSD"? Some sort of secret pirate code?

You (Jannati): (Laughing) Not quite, Captain! DSD stands for Discover Scuba Diving. It’s a quick program designed for beginners - like yourself - to experience breathing underwater without needing a full certification just yet. No curses involved, I promise.

Jack Sparrow: (Furrows his brow, pointing a rings-covered finger at the diagram) Fascinating. But a man of my... stature... requires his faculties. This mechanical contraption on your back, the iron lung thingy - does it allow for the proper intake of, say, rum?

You (Jannati): Absolutely not. That’s a scuba cylinder filled with compressed air, and the regulator delivers it safely to your mouth. No rum underwater, Jack. We need you focused so we can practice a few basic safety skills in shallow water first.

Jack Sparrow: Shallow water? (Wipes his brow in relief, then quickly tries to look brave) Ah, yes. Excellent. For the... crew's sake, of course. And if a giant beastie - say, a Kraken - decides to crash our little excursion?

You (Jannati): We’ll only be going down to a maximum of 12 meters (40 feet), and I’ll be right by your side the entire time. No Krakens in these waters, but you'll see plenty of beautiful coral and fish. Ready to try the regulator?

Jack Sparrow: (Adjusts his hat, giving a sly grin) Deep-sea treasure hunting without the drowning part? Speak softly and give me the breathing pipe, mate. Lead the way!

Gotta be real with the after dive sadness...

Sometimes you just don't know!

A word of caution...

Scuba Diving is an expensive addiction. 🤣🤣🤣

It triggers every human instinct to panic, but then, the students who pass choose to be calm.

Watching my students master the mask removal is a reminder of why I love teaching. It’s not just about teaching them how to dive; it’s about watching them realize exactly what they are capable of.

🌊💙

There was a time when I dreaded this skill a lot.
But now look how easy it feels to me. 🙃

Visiting the MIDE Expo in Malaysia.
Amazed how things aligned for me right before my trip was coming to an end.
I really wanted to visit the MIDE at least once.
And there I was. 🫠🫠🫠

Look what just arrived!
📦 Inside this bag is my brand-new CPR training model set, and it marks the beginning of an incredibly rewarding journey.

As a PADI Scuba Instructor, my number one priority has always been your safety underwater.

Now, I am officially stepping up to help you stay safe everywhere as an Emergency First Responder Instructor right here in Bangladesh! 🇧🇩

Emergency First Response (EFR) isn't just a prerequisite for your PADI Rescue Diver certification - it is a vital life skill that extends far beyond the dive boat.

Here is why learning EFR is absolutely necessary:
Be the Difference in Critical Moments: In a medical emergency, the minutes before professional medical help arrives are the most critical. EFR training gives you the confidence to step in and provide immediate, life-saving care when someone needs it most.

Skills for Everyday Life: Accidents don’t just happen underwater. Whether you're at home, in the office, or navigating the busy streets of Dhaka, knowing CPR and primary/secondary care means you can protect your family, friends, and community.

Building a Culture of Preparedness: By bringing comprehensive EFR training to Bangladesh, my goal is to empower local divers and non-divers alike with international-standard first aid skills.

Overcoming the Fear to Act: Many people hesitate during an emergency because they are afraid of doing the wrong thing. EFR teaches you simple, easy-to-remember steps in a stress-free environment, turning fear into confidence.

With this new CPR model set, I’m ready to provide hands-on, practical, and fun training sessions. Whether you are a diver looking to advance to Rescue Diver or someone who simply wants to be prepared to save a life, I’ve got you covered.
Let’s make our community safer, together. 💪💙

I'm an emotional person. I wouldn't say highly emotional, but fairly so. There used to be a time when I felt a significant amount of nothingness, so I certainly don't miss that. It would be like staring into the abyss of the self, and finding nothing that mattered. I think emotions make things matter.

When was the shift? The pivotal moment that started to make things matter again? I cannot pinpoint it.

But I know something in me shifted when I first went under the ocean.

You may think its one of those generic backstories, but when I look back, I can imagine how shells, fishes that are alive, corals that makes no sense in the way that we know life, and even parrotfishes pooping mid swim started to matter to me. As the sunlight slowly faded every meter under the water, it was as if my heart regained light and color. How could the wiggly, spunky Nemo(clownfish), the bright blue yet shy Dory, or even the territorial terror triggerfish not have mattered to me?

Human being, apart from friends, family, and loved ones, and sometimes even them, can be so complicated, so chaotic, confusing. Yet in the world of the water - where gravity has a different law - its simple magnificence.

You communicate simpler, words have no double meaning, the weight on you shoulder is gone, the water pressures wrap around you unlike any other hugs you might have received.

The shadows melt, colors fade, only bubbles interrupt your thoughts - until you learn to tune them out.

Why do I sound so intense?
I guess I'm just trying to share emotions, instead of just thoughts.

I'm trying to tell you how I feel.

And while I bid adieu to my friends, I take grief with my iced black coffee, knowing full well that feeling things doesn't make me weak.
It makes things matter more!
