Interport Group was honoured to participate in Integrity Day 2026, organised by the United Nations Global Compact Bangladesh, where business leaders, policymakers, and sustainability professionals came together to reflect on how trust, technology, and integrity can shape the future of business in Bangladesh.

This year’s theme “Integrity for the Next Generation: Trust, Technology, and the Future of Business in Bangladesh” encouraged an important conversation on values-based leadership in a rapidly evolving business environment.

Our Managing Director, Tanjil Ahmed Ruhullah, joined the panel discussion to share reflections from his journey as a second-generation business leader and from Interport Group’s experience in building a values-driven organisation.

Among the experiences shared were Interport’s humble beginnings in 2001 under the leadership of our Founder, Capt. MAK and his instrumental role in challenging and helping abolish the unlawful customs penalty practice on liquid bulk cargo shortages in Bangladesh for tanker vessels, through legal action that contributed to aligning local practice with internationally accepted maritime standards, as Correspondents of the International Group of P&I Clubs (https://safety4sea.com/bangladesh-customs-practice-for-assessing-shortage-of-liquid-bulk-cargo-now-aligned-with-india/); and its milestone of becoming the first member from Bangladesh of the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN), under the leadership of Mr. Tanjil Ahmed Ruhullah.

One message shared by Mr. Ruhullah, during the discussion was:

𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐧𝐨 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠. 𝐈𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭 𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬. 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐚 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲 - 𝐢𝐭 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐝, 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐞 𝐮𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲.

This belief reflects a principle that has long been part of Interport’s foundation. As our Founder, Capt. MAK, has often reminded us:

𝐍𝐨 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐮𝐲 𝐲𝐨𝐮, 𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐞𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐞.

At Interport Group, we believe integrity is not simply a compliance requirement, it is the foundation of sustainable business and long-term trust.

Our journey as the first full member from Bangladesh of the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) has further strengthened our commitment to embedding global standards of ethical business conduct, transparency, and responsible decision-making into our operations and culture.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the United Nations Global Compact Network Bangladesh for creating this important platform and for advancing the national conversation on integrity as a cornerstone of sustainable growth.

It is a pleasure to share a meaningful milestone from Interport Group, one that reflects the organization’s long-standing belief that the future of Bangladesh’s maritime sector depends not only on present performance, but on inspiring the next generation of talent.

On Saturday, 18 April 2026, Mr. Tanjil Ahmed Ruhullah FCILT BSc (Hons) LLB (Lond.), Managing Director of Interport Group, delivered a guest session on Business Strategy at the Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka. The session, titled "Business Strategy at Sea", was conducted for final-year BBA students across two sections.

Over the course of 75 minutes per session, the discussion covered:

🚢The scale, structure, and strategic importance of the global maritime industry, including Bangladesh’s estimated $25–40 billion maritime economy

📈 Practical application of key business strategy frameworks: PESTLE, Porter’s Five Forces, and Blue Ocean Strategy, illustrated through real-world case studies from Interport’s operations

🎯 Career pathways in maritime for business graduates, both locally and internationally.

🏅 Interport Group’s journey, values, and its role as Bangladesh’s first member of the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN).

The session sparked strong engagement, thoughtful discussion, and genuine interest among students in exploring maritime as a viable and impactful career path.

For partners engaged on the P&I side, the case studies presented will be familiar. Interport’s P&I Claims Handling division, listed by 11 of the 12 International Group P&I Clubs and serving as an alternative correspondent for the UK Club, provided practical insights into complex legal and risk management scenarios. The session highlighted how operating in an emerging market like Bangladesh demands not only technical expertise, but also sound commercial judgment, ethical clarity, and crisis-ready leadership.

For those connected with Interport’s Ship Agency operations, the Blackout Case Study stood out. During the nationwide internet shutdown in 2024, Interport deployed a team to the Maldives to ensure uninterrupted, 24/7 communication with principals. While the country experienced a digital standstill, vessel operations remained unaffected, a demonstration of operational resilience and commitment that strongly resonated with the students.

This initiative aligns with Interport’s broader strategic vision: positioning Bangladesh’s maritime sector as an attractive destination for top-tier business talent, similar to established maritime hubs such as Singapore and Norway. YoungShip Bangladesh, founded by Mr. Ruhullah, continues to play a pivotal role in advancing this mission.

Interport remains committed to carrying the trust and confidence of its partners beyond ports and into classrooms, contributing to the development of the industry’s future leaders.
