When my son and I first started our Wushu journey at Hastings Rocks, Sifu Sammy took us through some basic Nan Quan rhythms. I remember--clear as day, three tourists who happened to be in the area were captivated by what they saw us doing and approached our Sifu. They expressed their interest and wanted to participate in the session. Our Sifu allowed them to join in and follow along. We went through some basic Rhythms that I wasn't familiar with but they were so cool that we all had loads of fun. "That," I said to myself at some point, "I have to practice". So here are the wheeling arms and slap I learned that day!

Barbados Sticklicking-- Creating Interest.

Last Friday, I got the opportunity to introduce Sticklicking to a good friend who practices Filipino Kali. He brought a type of energy which reminded me of how “Tattoos” (stick fighting matches) would have been in Barbados back in the days. Listen to the music of our Tuk Band as it too would be present at sticklicking competitions. A slice of history!
